Shearz in Rocky Hill is wonderful. Val is really great at working with kids and listening to moms. She's gotten busier lately, but she can often take you next day, as long as you're flexible about what times you can come.
Last night my 3 year old took scissors to her hair. I need to save what I can so I need a creative hairdresser who doesn't think solely in bobs for girls. It's really short on one side now but I don't want to cut it all short - it won't look good on her. HELP!!! Please!!!

Well, if you're in Conway, I would suggest Studio 24. ###-###-####. Right over by the Saco River Medical Group. Kelly and her staff are just wonderful, and amazing with kids (probably because they have kids of their own). I also love that it's a locally-owned business, a mom making money for her family - that means a lot to me. Kelly is the best, and probably the one to "think outside the box" for you, but anyone there will do a great job for you.
I'm sorry, I can't recommend a place. But I just wanted to say that one day you're going to laugh about this!
Your story made me smile because I have this fear! I have a 3 year old daughter with beautiful curly hair, and JUST YESTERDAY as I was trimming my own hair I became conscious of the fact that I probably shouldn't let her see me do this. I suddenly imagined her in the mirror in a few days attempting to cut her own hair "just like Mommy did." Ha! She's a feisty little thing who wants to do EVERYTHING all by herself.
Gotta love it. :-)
I have had 3 terrible cuts in Nashua's Snipits, if you don't need a buzz cut or a long bangs and super long bob on a girl, they won't get it right. They know those two hair cuts only. I had great luck with JC Penney's (who knew???) in the Pheasant Lane Mall. I use a couple people, but Erica is awesome, just not always available. Lots of young folks up on current styles, not just cranking out updated Anistons, kwim?
Good luck,
D.
If you happen to live around Manchester, CT, Maureen at Scissor's Edge is absolutely awesome. She listens to everything you have to say about what has been done previously that you didn't like and will work with you to do something that will make you happy. She is one of the best hairdressers I have ever worked with.
I like Mastercuts which is in many malls. They do not take appointments so it is just walk in. We took my 4 year old there last month and had 10 inches of her hair cut for Locks of Love. They cut it into a beautiful bob and she was very happy. My son refuses to go anywhere but Mastercuts for his haircuts. If you look them up online, you can get a coupon for $2.00 off a haircut. Good Luck!

I'm not sure where you're located but I go to Heather at Lord & Lady's Salon in Kingston at the Independence Mall. She has been a hairdresser for a long time and also has a young daughter. That's where I'd take my daughter if she did that! (my sister used to do this!!)
Good luck!
I had a bad luck with the kid's haircut place on queen st in southington,I went there with my 2,5 year old ,and I never gonna go to that place again.Everything is rush, rush. My little girl looked horrible,I could see chunks of hair missing here and there, and she looked like a boy.
My 3 year old loves, loves, loves snip its-and the hairdressers listen to what YOU want!
Good Luck!

snip its they specialize in kids
We haven't actually gone here yet but it sounds like a great place. http://www.snipits.com/
Our daughter is also 3 and we are planning on having her first haircut very soon! Up to now I've only trimmed her bangs but I'm no hairdresser. LOL This place caters to kids and has a lot of choices for styles.
Try Crewcuts & Curls. Very friendly and just for kids.

Shearz in Rocky Hill is wonderful! Val is great and she is very accomodating. The kids love the place....kid friendly. Good luck!
Hey There,
I am not sure where you live, but try Kid Clips. There is one in Acton, MA and I know they have at least one more location, but I am not sure where it is. THey only do kids haircuts. Each chair has its own DVD player and they have all the current kids' favorites. They also have a seat that is an airplane and one is a horse. Plus, they have a great play area that my son never wants to leave!
Good luck!
snip-its is great! we have avoided going there for years because i thought it would be too expensive, but it's not. 16.99 for a haircut, well worth it. they are very patient and fun and have books with tons of suggestions. we go in nashua, but it's a chain so there are others out there.
good luck
Try Salon Sama in watertown ###-###-####, nice people and great with kids.
We have had good luck with Snip Its on Queen Street in Southington. They specialize in hair cuts for kids...

first of all u need 2 remember - it's just hair - it'll grow back. be happy she's not in school yet when it happened. get the bob or a pixie looking cut & it'll grow out over the summer .... she'll be thankful, i'm sure, for short hair when the hot weather comes!
Jill Derderian in Haverhill--she is the best hairdressers i have ever had, including expensive ones in boston--and I am sure she would be awesome with kids.
