Hi C.,
I had a very good experience with Collins Brothers (and this is after being royally screwed by another company, so I was pretty gun shy!). Good luck with everything.

I'm going to be moving in a few weeks and need to find a reputable, reliable mover. Any recommendations from anyone?
Thank you everyone for your responses! I ended up using Smoother Movers/Sterling Van Lines. They were very polite, professional, and super easy to work with. The crew of Denis, Otis and Juan were great.
Mary - I did let them know that you referred me. It got me a 10% discount! SO, a double thank you. I worked with Jerry (Steve was out when I called) and he was awesome.

Hi C.,
When we moved to MD from FL we used Paxton (out of Springfield VA) which is also in relation to Atlas Van Lines. They were great and really packed all our things very well--they even wrapped up my plastic measuring cups. Our things were loaded in a huge truck (along with our small car) and arrived up here with in 4 days. Great service and the same people who loaded also unloaded.
Best of luck with your move!
JK Moving has been used by several of my friends and colleagues and they were all very pleased. JK even provides free boxes.
C.,
Give Jeff Scannell a call with Interstate Movers...they are bonded, very reputable and all of the movers are well trained. ###-###-####. They are located in Springfield. I just notified him you may be calling for a quote...he is great to work with!
We just used "Great Scott" to move within Arlington. Not the cheapest, but they did a really great job. As they're packing, they organize the truck by room, so they know where to put everything when you get there. They were also super nice to my 9-month old daughter, smiling at her every time they passed. We had a great experience with them!
Beltway is good if you don't have a lot of stuff. Otherwise, Town and Country is very good. Carmack is not good, we just moved with them last year and they broke several things and got lost (we only moved 20 miles and they were following me to the house).
Hi -- We used All-Star Movers to move from DC to Northern VA last year. They were great -- finished early and under budget.
Hi- We used Town and Country movers (twice now) and recommend them to our friends, who have also used them. They are very reasonable in price and wonderful to work with. Fast, efficient and friendly.
Good luck and as a divorcee (but remarried to a wonderful man) the move can be quite hard!

I'm so sorry to hear about your separation. I've been there, and I know how difficult it can be.
Sterling Van Lines/Smoother Movers is excellent. We used them twice in one year (long story), and my mom is using them this week because I recommended them to her, and they sold her. They're polite, take care of your home and stuff, and their quote always came in cheaper (sometimes MUCH cheaper) than the 2-3 other quotes we got. Stephan Zupan, ###-###-####. ###-###-####. Please let them know I sent you.
Good luck.
