Need a New Doctor

I am currently going to an OBGYN that my mother-in-law and sister-in-law suggested I try. It's been seeing this doctor for almost a year now and the office and doctors seem too busy and in a to turn their patience in and out of the office quickly. I really need an OB who will answer questions, and not medicate or add suggestions when they really are not sure what is wrong. I am currently with Grace OBGYN in Asheville and it seems that I wait forever to see a doctor when I go in and then feel so rushed once I do see him. I started going to them last year because of several health issues. My family doctor has tried to work with the OBGYN but they just don't click. My family doctor is Apple Valley Family Medical. Dr. Shea is always eager to listen and figure out a solution. I went to the OB about 3 weeks ago and he quickly diagnosed me with something, prescribed a medication and then asked me to come back for a follow up in 2 months. I got a second opinion a week later from my family Dr. and he said I did not have the condition. I am deperate for a good, caring, and thorough OBGYN. Any suggestion?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My reasoning for needing a referral was because early October I was having some terrible pains and I couldn't seem to get my OBGYN to feel a sense of urgency. Finally 3 weeks ago (today is 11/13) I woke up in severe pain and had to be rushed to his office; I had an ectopic pregnancy and went immediately into the surgery. Luckily there was another doctor there and on call with the same practice. He is wonderful so I will be able to stay with the same practice but just switch doctors.

I know a great OB/GYN her name is Dr. Watson. She is the head doctor of WNC OB/GYN and family practice. They seem to be a very busy office and she is going 90 mile a minute but she does care and will listen to you. Infact she will get down to the bottom of what ever you have problems with. I had problems with miscarriages. With her help we found out the cause and she stayed right on top of it. If I had any concerns at all I just called her and she would work me in one way or another. Heck just to tell you how involved she tends to get she had me come in on a Saturday for an ultrasound becuase she doubted the specialist that she referred me to. They are located at 16 McDowel Street and the number is ###-###-####.

I also had Dr. Watson @ WNC OB/GYN I liked her but she is very blunt. If ya don't wanna hear it put it bluntly too bad lol. Dr. Grace Evins also practices with Dr Watson and I really like her too but I had to have Dr. Watson b/c of my C-sections. Anyway, I love the practice. The desk attendence and the nurses are all REALLY nice ( I really love Dr. Watsons nurse Susan, she's always so wonderful!) I felt really taken care of there and never had to wait forever, in fact I waws usually taken back for something with in 15 minutes.

If you don't mind a little drive Dr. Keppler has an office called New Beginnings, it's behind Park Ridge Hospital. She is the most wonderful person. She goes mach 2 with her hair on fire gettings things done, but she ALWAYS listens and takes the time you need her to take with you. There have been times I've waited 45 minutes in the waiting room past my appointment time, but I never mind because I know she'll take the time with me that I need. The first time I met her I hugged her. If you don't want to drive, Dr. Jeffries at Asheville Women's Medical is wonderful also.

Hey Tracy! I love Dr. Letson at Laurel OBGYN. I've never had an issue w/ time constraints or him not seeming as if he doesn't care. It's the exact opposite actually. He has always gone out of his way to make sure my husband and my questions are both answered and w/ true understanding and commitment to the practice. Hope you have luck finding one that you're satisfied with =-)
