Proactive! I am 38 and have suffered for years and this is seriously the only thing that has helped me. I've been using it almost a year and have had very little problems.

You could be overdrying your skin, irritating it and causing the acne. If you want to test this theory, get a gentle cleanser and light moisturizer and wash only twice per day. Do it for a couple weeks and be patient. If it works, that's great! If it doesn't, you probably wont be any worse off.

Another thing to try, and this may sound weird, is your own breast milk. It has so many wonderful properties! Its antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, very nourishing and wont hurt anything. Wash with a normal cleanser and moisturize, then put a little in your hand and rub it on. Let it soak in. Put some sunscreen on too!

I tried this after having my first baby. My acne wasn't horrible but it was consistently irritating, popping up a new huge boil every couple days. I haven't had a problem since.

The milk is also a good spot treatment, especially on healing spots.

You could also see a dermatologist. But ask for breastfeeding friendly things. Even topical creams need to be checked for breastfeeding (salycilic acid is one you shouldn't use in pregnancy, probably not great for breastfeeding either). They may tell you to do different potions.

Hello! I've suffered for acne for years and have been on all kinds of serious prescription medications.
A few years ago, a doctor proscribed ROSAC Wash, which had sodium sulfacetamide and sulfur in it. It cleared up my skin very quickly. I also have a prescription for Metrogel, which is a topical to put on after you wash your face. I was shocked, and thrilled, that I found something that worked, and wasnt a pill. My doctor gave the ok to use them on my face while pregnant.

You can get the same incrediants from the ROSAC wash in a cream that you can put on your face for much cheaper. Also prescription.

Both are pricey even with insurance but they last forever and work. I've spent plenty of money on things that dont.

Good luck!

Have you tried proactiv? I know it isn't natural based but I had great luck with it. Since it's topical, I don't think it should be a problem for the baby. Maybe ask your doctor or pediatrician about it.

Had a friend that suffered with Acne for many years, he used Proactive and has never had a problem again. Like the previous poster ask the doctor if that would be ok will breastfeeding and try that.. He swears by it, has tried many other things but nothing has worked like Proactive.

Someone else recently asked as similar questions and one of the responses was to use baking soda instead of expensive face washes. I started using this in the morning a couple of weeks ago and my face seems to be starting to clear up. Nothing perfect yet, but everything takes time.

I liked the idea because it's both inexpensive and natural. Best of luck!

Try using Head and Shoulders as a shampoo for your hair and wash your face wit it while in the shower. You'd be surprised...try this for a week and you'll see a difference.

I used Proactive while I was pregnant and breastfeeding, it really helped. I also notice that if my face is too dry than I break out a lot.

Acne is an indication of unbalance in your body. Eating a clean, natural diet is the first place to start clearing up your skin. Exercise is the second. If you can afford to do colon hydrotherapy, then that is an excellent skin treatment. This is a nice facial scrub:

Changing your pillow case every night and using natural laundry detergents will help. Using a fresh towel between showers will help too.

Hydration, hydration, hydration.

I too have been acne-prone for most of my life, but I have begun to look at it as a blessing. It is the first indication that something is off in my body, and a reminder to try to bring myself back into balance.

unfortunately hormones cause you to break out, so there isn't a WHOLE lot you can do to make acne "go away" unless you use some strong stuff, but even that is bad for your skin long term.

things to try:

keep your face clean (don't use drying soaps)
moisturize (youd think NOT to, but if your face is dry it will overreact natural oils which clog the pores! so get a good oil free moisturizer, SPF preferrably bc those hormones in pg can cause sun spots big time!)
always use clean make up pads
the less chemical on your face the better (try organic make up products?)
(kinda pricey but I use Eminence and ColoreScience products)
