Need Advice from Fashion Savvy Ladies

We have not had a tv for over a year, and since I rarely have time to leaf through magazines with two little ones (who incidentally don't really enjoy mall shopping), I am wondering... what's hot right now? After two babies, I'm a new improved size 10 (my husband tells me I look fabulous with my womanly curves and wouldn't trade me for a "meatless, skinny girl"- gotta love him!) so I need a new wardrobe as I am not heading for my old size 4 clothes again any time soon. This is an exciting time as I "reinvent" myself- no more teeny-bopper styles for me! I'm looking for a little more sophisticated but relaxed, 27 yr-old stay at home mom who can sit on the floor and play with the kids but has some style (my husband likes a bit of class- not jogging pants and sweatshirts every day) look. I'm no slave to trends, but a little bit of being current is nice. I always promised myself I would not be the mom that fell out of a previous decade. Any suggestions or links to websites that can help me out?

What can I do next?

Hi,
This is my passion! First, go buy In Style Magazine, my fashion bible. Next, find out what looks good on you, by going to a department store, one time. Either Saks or Nordstrom and make an appointment with a personal shopper.( a free- service) You can bang this out in one day and you will feel sooo wonderful, no matter what size you are everyone should take meticulous care of themselves. Once you have the appointment, look in your closet and get rid of outdated, ripped, "never-going-to look at"clothes and donate them to someone in need. Then take note of what you have left, and before you go to a department store, that offers this free service, go to the gap.com and ourchase, the basics.
The basics
* White. black, and any colored long sleave, short sleave and tank top t-shirt, plain.
* 3 cardigan's that are interchangeable with the t-shirts.
preferably black, grey and a color
* Good fitting jeans. I think you need one skinny fit, one bootleg and a dressy pair.
* A great coat for spring
Trench coats are it this spring. The gap has great ones, and then if you can really swing it, it is always wonderful and timeless to go to burberry.com and get the classic trenchcoat in burberry beige. Somewhere in the middle, Juicy Cuoture makes a pique trenchcoat which I have on my list of must-haves.
* You can go to Zappos.com for shoes. You need a basic black loafer and I would also purchase a metallic loafer or ballet-slipper and you can basically spend a small fortune on a pair of JP Tods or Bruno Magli. A wonderful, well-made less expensive shoe is fine. While there if you live in the colder-climates, pick up a pair of Uggs or a good knock-off, an espedrille, a low-healed pump in black and a walking sneaker. For me the only sneaker I even consider is a New-balance, which you can also ____@____.com

* Getting back to the clothing, Purchase a knee-length form-fitting black skirt, and a pair of black trousers, lose the pleats as nobody wears them and nobody looks good in them.
* A gap white blouse
* A metallic belt with some bling
* a basic black dress that has longevity and the ability to take you from day to evening with a few quick changes.
* black leggings
* basic black riding boots
What you should purchase @the department stores are special "I have to have them" items. Don't get talked into anything too much, just a few really unique completely fashion-savy items that you can mix and match with the basics. Now I didn't include seasonal items like a one piece black bathing suit, and a black & grey turtleneck. Well made socks, panties that fit and always a bra to match. Buy a pair of silver and gold bangle sets and a funky choker, perhaps on a velvet ribbon and you are good to go.
Some pointers
* If you have great legs, bring the hem-line up a bit and where more short-skirts, always with Hue Black tights. Spanks are O.K.
* If you don't like your legs and arms where long pants and cover the arms with a shrug or a cardigan.
* I forgot to include a black sheath and depending on the accesories you purchase from the personal-shopper, mix things depending om yout tastes and lifestyle.
* Leggings are big this season with a tunic and if you hate your midde-section purchase a (victoria's secret.com) babydoll style one and for this go colorful. Good luck

Lucky for you the internet is the way of shopping now anyway!! Inexpensive sites like www.OLDNAVY.com offer cute trends in all sizes and their items look good! Of course, many a great deal can be found on EBAY-as long as it is labeled "NEW"!!
I make sure that the "sweatpants look" is saved for the one day a week I squeak in a workout...other than that it is jeans (not MOM-jeans) and a cool top!!
HAPPY SHOPPING !!!

Dark colored denim is a little dressy, but still says play time. The darker the denim, the more slimming it looks. Dress up casual with an ankle boot with a heel.
For Spring..There are a lot of pretty flat shoes available everywhere right now. They're pretty inexpensive too (so you can get a lot of them!)It would be great to go into spring with some long cuffed shorts (cute plaids) and several pairs of different colored and patterned flats. Pair them up with light sweaters and golf shirts - I like a classic/ contemporary look for Spring as some of the WORST fashion trends happen in the Spring!
No matter what you wear if you pay attention to matching or corresponding the shoes and bag with your outfit you'll look pulled together..and take time to accessorize (never go out w/out lipstick on!)

I went from a size 4 to a size 12 then to an 8 then to a 10. I felt like a yoyo. I am happy to say I am a 10 and there is no going back for me (smiles).

NY & CO....They have everything for us curvacious mama's. Casual, Business, Evening out with the husband or the girls.
Ann Taylor Loft.......a bit pricier, but have great clothes!
Seeing as you can't get to a mall or go through magazines, when the boys are napping, check out their websites. They always have the latest trends. Kill 2 birds with one stone.....let the websites be your magazines and shop all in one! Try piperlime.com for shoes too. You can even shopp for the boys on there. Have fun on your shopping spree.
