Richard at Huggins Honda is fantastic. I had a voucher in jan and I bought from him. Even though they only sell new cars there, he found a trade in that was exactly what I asked him for and he treated me like I was his most important customer. He was great and I would suggest to anyone that they at least call him and see what he can do.

The best thing to do would be to pay cash, but how much cash are you willing to spend. What type of car do you want and please disregard any deadlines that car lots give as thats just designed to get you out to the car lot. My husband sold cars for 14 yrs he know's quit a bit about that whole process and used to talk to me about it all the time. He's in insurance now an would be happy to help you as I've seen/heard him help lots of people since he stop selling them. Clay Cooley is the last place on the face of the earth to by a car. Learn the process of buying a car 1st..saves you a lot of money.

Do you have to buy?
If not... Try D&M Leasing. They will find you something within your budget and won't get you something you don't like or need. I went to them wanting a VW Jetta and they were real with me and said I couldn't afford it but found me a comparable Toyota Corolla Sport edition for a lot less. They do all the shopping so you don't have to. Just tell them what you need, what your budget is and they will help you.

I know it sounds like a commercial but I'm a previous customer. I had to give up that car when me and my ex split up. I made the mistake of going to a dealer to buy and it was 3 months headaches and a lot higher car payment. Not worth the trouble for a base model Ford Focus.

My brother works at Bob Tomas Ford in McKinney and has been working there for many years as well as in the business for many years. He has a great reputation and will not steer you wrong. His name is Kerry and he's given alot of people I know (including myself) great deals on cars. He won't haggle you, he will tell you up front the bottom line they will let him sell a car to you for. If you decide to see him, tell him his sister, K., sent you. I drive cars till I can't drive them anymore and I'm still driving the car I bought from him 10 years ago - runs great, no "health" problems over the years and it has 120k miles on it now.

Hi M.:

If you would like, you can call my husband directly. He's been in the car business for 20 years and has helped several of our friends. He has contacts at practically every dealership in the metroplex and he can help you with new or used. If you'd like his number, just send me a message!

do not go to david mcdavid honda in irving. they sold my husband a car that was worth about 14,ooo in the kelly blue book for 17,000 and thats with them lowering the price. when he took it back b/c i wouldnt sign the papers due to it being so much for basically nothing it took me 2 weeks and five drives up to their dealership to get the money back he put down. they screwed with me one too many times and they were jerks about. i would suggest carmax. their cars are worth it and their service was great. the prices they offer on vehicles abide by the kelly blue book i think and they dont raise or lower them, its a set price and they tell you that from the very begining. so there is no hassle or games. my credit was poor and they got me into the car I WANTED with a resonable downpayment and monthly payments as well. good luck

Good for you for taking advantage of that program! We haven't bought a car from them, but we sold a car to Car Max and found it to be a good experience. I'm pretty sure there's one just east of the Cowboys stadium. Good luck - and don't let those dealers know you're in a hurry!

Can you tell me exactly how you went about getting the voucher? I plan on doing the same but don't know where to start. I do know once you've gotton it you just go to a major dealership and they will walk you through it.

Well in Arlington and in Plano Enterprise, the car rental guys, sells cars under blue book value and have a 7 day money back guarantee minus fees. I know you are in Irving, but it's worth a try. I am currently waiting on my voucher and we will be going to the one in Arlington. Here's the number and address to the one in Plano 605 Coit Rd ###-###-####, and Arlington 1112 E. Division St ###-###-####.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

I can tell you that David McDavid Honda of Irving is NOT helpful at all. Check on with the Internet sales with car dealers. It eliminates the hassle and cuts out most of the negotiations. They work for you!!! I was a single mom for 8 years (I recently remarrried *almost a year now) with 2 children (2 & 4 at the time) and I am sure that people assume that we wear a sign that says "I don't have a clue". Ha! I will do some checking with friends on where that voucher will work. I have a couple small car lots that are great but not sure about the voucher use. I will see what I can find out for you. K. Be carefull if your going alone. They will try to sell you anything you don't want an watch your paper work. They are good at selling women who they think knows nothing about cars anything. But I learned from my dad .They work on commission. I'm a Gr-ma an I know how it is to car shop.First I would know where I'm going to finance it an second know what I want an nothing else. Third know the blue book price. If you have your own financeing before going you will know the blue book price. ALos your interest reat will be better.I think if you go to googgle an type in blue book car prices or kelly blue book. But if you know what you want go to the bank or credit union or any finance company first an they will tell you what it is worth.Don't be intiminadated by them.Alos sometimes if you go in with a payment amount first they will wiggle the figures an you may be paying more for the vehiclle than it is worth leaving you up siide down in it.Good Luck
