Need Advice on Body Shops : (

So I had a little accident yesterday. Fortunately it was a low speed accident so no one was hurt and the other vehicle (an SUV) wasn't damaged. Basically their bumper damaged a door on my car. So I need to get my car fixed and am going to do so without involving insurance. Can anyone recommend a good body shop? I live in the Mont Clare area, near Harlem and Diversey.

Also, my husband has informed me that anywhere I take it they are going to tell me I have to replace the door. But the door works fine, it is just dented and scratched. Does anyone have any experience with getting something like this fixed without replacing the door. That seems a bit extreme.

Thanks,
D.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. I got a few quotes and couldn't believe how much it is going to cost to fix such a smal scratch/dent. Anyway I decided to turn it in to my insurance company and to use Arrow on Grand in Elmwood Park. I will let you all know how it goes.

Thanks Again!

I am uncertain whether you want to travel out to the western suburbs however our family has used

A to Z Body & Fender

The owner Rick Schultz is a nice guy who takes pride in his shop's work and is fair. They are also an approved State Farm collision repair facility.

Best wishes

I am not sure of the name, but the place that we used the one time that we needed and would go back was on Irving just a block or two west of oak park. Good Luck.

D.,

You might want to try The Auto Clinic, on North Blvd. in Oak Park (along the north side of the Metra and Green Line tracks.) I haven't had body work done there, but my husband and I have had our cars repaired there; they're reliable and reasonably priced (much more reasonable than a dealer.) Larry the owner is a bit curmudgeonly, but he's pleasant enough. The number is 708/386-9222.
