Have a healthy almost 17 lb baby boy. Bjorn just hurts my back. Heard awesome things about Ergo carriers, but just read an article on Bitybean. Anyone have experience with either brand or can recommend a baby carrier?
TIA!

Love, love, LOVE my Beco baby carrier!!! I've had a Bjorn, a Snugli, Moby Wrap, Sleeping Baby Productions ring sling and by far my Beco Butterfly 2 is my favorite!

I was very happy with the Ergo too, though I wasn't a huge baby wearer. It's really comfortable and you can wear the baby on your front, back, or hip. It's definitely worth the money and they have good resale value.

I love my ergo. I wear my 26 pound 14 month old several hours each day with no discomfort. I put him on my back while I do chores to keep his little hands out of my way. He goes on my chest for shopping and walks around the neighborhood. Either way is super comfortable. Try a bunch on and see what works for you and your baby.

I switched to the ergo when Bjorn started hurting. Also love the Moby wrap but its less practical.

I have a Beco that is fabulous. I used it with my big boy, and I never had any pain anywhere ;-)

Bjorns are not great for babies so it is good you are looking for other options. They don't have a seat to sit on and he is just hanging there with his whole body weight pressing on his little boy parts. We loved our Ergo for when ours got older.

I have a baby hawk that I really like. If you have a store nearby that carriers several styles your best bet is to go and try on with baby and find the one that fits both of you. I tried on several including two ergos, which were pretty comfy too, but the baby hawk fit my shoulders and hips/waist the best. I did have to go to a small store in town, but they had about 10 different carriers and the staff new all about them and which ones might fit best. I had not even heard of baby hawk when I went in. I liked my Bjorn until mine was about that same weight and then needed something more. The newer Bjorns also have a lot more support. Hope you find a good one .

I was the happiest with a simple unpadded ring sling. I borrowed a few different kinds just to try them from friends and I always went back to my ring sling.
All the fiddly buckles and straps and ties were just too much of a hassle. All those extra layers of padding and material and fluff made me hot and feeling like a line backer and restricted my movement.
I used my ring sling from day one. No additional inserts needed to buy. Put them in tummy to tummy, head resting under your chin, make a pocket of the bottom so they get totally scooped up inside so no dangly legs until they are too big to tuck all the way in.
I could loosen it a little bit, move them to a cradle hold and nurse without having to stop everything I was doing and sit down. I do not like pulling my breast out the top of my shirts and instead prefer to lift my shirt from the bottom and this allowed me to do that and keep going. Something that was a life saver once my third was born!
I wore all 3 of my kids all the time! I will still wear my 4 year old although she's just beginning to get too big and tall. I love my ring sling! My favorite is the Maya Wrap. But I also have a couple I bought from stores on etsy.com and another one by TaylorMade Slings.
