Hi, My son who is 3 and a half recently started going to the bathroom every 5 minutes, sometimes he can wait 20 min or a little longer but I have 2 daughters age 21 and 16 and thought oh maybe he has a bladder or some kind of infection like that so I took him to the doctor and he said there was no infection/bacteria... clear urine test. It's not a game, it makes him upset, but he is not in pain. And lately hes been having accidents, during the day not at night. He says he has to go bad and runs for the potty and it will be 3 to 5 drops or he can't hold it until he gets there. I haven't changed soaps, shampoos, no excessive baths, foods laundry detergents, Not One thing. We are both frustrated and now i took him back again day 14 to the doctor and he took a bunch of blood and another urine and he wants him to see a Pediatric Urologist and I'm scared and nervous. At first the doctor said maybe an irritant or to much soap in the bath and it would wash its self out and go away as quick as it came on and sadly that's not the case. So if anyone has gone through or heard of anything similar ANY advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for your time.

My nephew went through something similar. It was of all things that he was constipated. Sounds weird, but he was peeing all of the time just like that and my sister in law took him to the dr thinking the same thing. He was pooping some, but some still was backed up and ultimately was pushing on his bladder. They gave him a laxative and upped the amount of fiber in his diet and all was well.

My son (who is now 6) went through this same issue this summer. We were at the state fair and he was literally going every 3 minutes. Sometimes he would walk out of a bathroom and turn right around and go back in to pee again. I thought for sure he had a bladder infection so we went to urgent care and his urine was completely clean. Then we went to Children's and spent about 4 hours running tests and conferring with a pediatric urologist. In the end he was diagnosed with Extraordinary Urinary Frequency of Childhood. It is completely beign and it basically means that some "switch" has been flipped in their little bodies which gives them the sensation that they have to go all the time. There is no bacterial or viral reason and it's not anatomical either. It is most common is boys ages 4 to 6 and if you google it you'll see it simply goes away (anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months time). Good luck! I hope that helps :-)

Oh yes, this has happened to us multiple times. The first time we just waited it out. This last time we saw a different pediatrician who recommended treating for constipation. She said that even if he's pooping regularly, if it's too large or difficult to pass it can be putting pressure on the sphincter muscle and causing him to feel like he has to go all the time. I was skeptical, but it has done the trick! Now I give him MiraLax (OTC) every couple of days just to keep everything moving. Check with your doctor to see what he thinks.

Good luck!

my son is now 19. What you are experiencing sounds an awfull lot like what we went through with him all those years agao!! It lasted all the way into kindergarten. I was so frustrated! we took him to the Dr. and he was diagnosed with bladder spasms. They put him on a medicine called Levsin and it was just amazing the differnce!!! talk to the Dr again and ask him if this could possibly be the problem!! Good luck!!

How do you feel about a chiropractic adjustment? I was raised with adjustments and anytime I just don't know what to do I go see our chiropractor. There are pediatric chiropractors who would know more about little bodies but even a regular chiropractor would be able to tell if his pelvis/hips are out of alignment and could possibly be causing these problems. It is worth a try as our bodies are all connected. I was raised on chiropractic as my mom is a chiropractor. M. H.

I would have to agree. I would just bring him to the chiropractor. I have been bringing my daughter in because she had the same issue. Now and then she says she has to go really bad and will do a little dance and then has to fight to even make it to the bathroom. She is due for another adjustment. My chiropractor said that the reason she has bladder issues is because her hips are turned inward and that is putting the pressure on the bladder so she cannot hold it. It may take one adjustment or just a few but you should notice a dramatic change right away. It would be much cheaper than seeing a specialist too. I know our chiropractor visits cost $15 an adjustment and if you talk to your chiropractor they will also tell you that a doctor is a temporary fix where a chiropractor actually works with what is actually wrong.

HI. Not to scare you or anything, But I did that too when I was 12. My mom brought me to the dr and turned out that I am diabetic. Things to look for is if he is drinking a lot fo water, loosing weight.... things like that? When I found out I was drinking tons of water, and going to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes. And then I lost a lot of weight at that time. So that is the only thing that I could tell you, sorry I can't be more help...let me know what you find out. good luck,

Hi S.. Have you tested him for diabetes or other blood sugar imbalances? When the blood sugar is too high or too low it can affect the signals that the bladder send to the brain that let us know that it's time to go to the bathroom.
My daughter was just diagnosed at 19months with type 1 diabetes. We were in the middle of potty training and doing really well and when she regressed we knew something was wrong.
I hope you find answers soon! And I hope that diabetes is NOT the problem. It's just good to rule it out!
