My sister and her husband are expecting a baby boy in May. They are having a very hard time agreeing on a name. She likes more modern names and he's more into traditional names. I told her I'd post on here to see what names you came up with. Please help with any names you can think off. Thank you!

What can I do next?

We are not Morman we just really like the name Brigham. It means Bridges in English. Their is even a Brigham England. Brigham is more popular in England. You can call him Brig for short.

I have a 3 month old son named Anders. We originally liked Alexander, but thought it was too common and too long of a first name to go with our 10 letter last name. His middle name is Johan (pronounced like Johan Santana), which is German for John. My dad passed away last year and his name was John.

My husband and I went through these same discussions when our first son was born. I liked the more modern, trendy names and he was much more conservative and "boring" as I called it. Then we compromised on the name. He let me choose the first name so we went with Carson, while he got to decide on the middle name of Joseph. We are happy with the outcome, and hopefully our son will be too.
When choosing boy names I was told not to go with something too radical and different for boys, because unlike girls their self-esteem can suffer...whether this is true or not probably depends more on the child though. However, if you compromise and go with a little bit different first name, then try to go for a more plain middle name- this way the child can have the option when he is a little bit older if he does not like his first name.
Hope that helps a little!

My husband and I both tend to go for the more "traditional" names. I think they're strong names and can last a kid his whole life.

Anyway, our boys are named Jacob and Henry. We found out after the fact that Jacob was the most popular boys' name in 2001 (when he was born), so he usually has at least 1 other Jacob/Jake in his preschool/kindergarten class. For a long time he thought his name was Jacob S! Every time he wrote it he had to include the "S".

With Henry, while it IS a family name, it's really becoming more and more popular. Julia Roberts and Heidi Klum both have Henrys, and it's always fun to meet another little guy with the same name.

Other names we've debated: Lucas (Luke), Benjamin, Oliver, Charlie.

I agree with thinking of every possible way to make fun of a name. Kids can get pretty creative. I graduated with a guy whose initials were "PMS"--let me tell you, he got teased about that in middle school. Dumb, but that's how it goes...

Good luck!

Elliot is a really cute boys (or girls) name, and it is a more traditional name that is now modern.

Naming children are very hard I think especially when you can't pick one out that you both like. Well my boys names are Gage, Gavin and Griffin some of the others I like are Payton, Grady, Noah, I can't think of the others but, I would have them each have a name book and go thru and highlight the names that they like and then compare with which ones they both highlighted. That is what my husband and I did since he did not like any of my names that I was coming up with and so I thought I wasn't going to say anymore and I liked Gage and I did not think he would and he is the one that wanted that name so it all worked out.

Hope some of these work for them.

I was always told to pick out a boys name that is strong and tough. Not to ever name a boy a whimpy momma's boy name.

Then I was told to take the name and try and make fun of it so I knew what a child with that name would be in for once in grade school.

And I do understand why all these cute boys names going over to the girls and it kinda stinks but I do understand why.Cause it's cute not fair though. But once it's gone feminine leave it. Riley,Morgan,Jamie,Mackenzie,etc........ those are now girl names.

I really like the name Nicholas I haven't heard it in along time and it's a nice name. That would have been my daughter's name had she been a boy.

We named our son after both of our fathers. It's a strong,
traditional name, John James. I wanted a modern, trendy name, I'm glad we went with traditional. His name has meaning and hopefully he will carry it on....someday!!!!
