I'm looking for a babysitter for saturday night (September 23) for my 10 month old. Does anyone know someone reliable or can offer any suggestions? We have never used a babysitter other than close family/friends, so we're not sure where to start with looking.
I would go on sittercity.com, or depending on where you live - ask other mommies in your neighborhood, a high school girl of a neighbor, try the local college (I know DePaul has college students studying early childhood education babysit) or a local church. OR do a posting on Craigslist.com (for free) for an occasional babysitter. That is how I found ours. Good luck.

I just signed up for babysitters.com. It's 29.99 for three months. I found someone to watch for me on weekends when my husband and I go out.

I live by UIC and I put an ad on Craig's List for an "occasional babysitter; preferably a student with a flexable schedule" and got some great responses! The girl we wound up getting had pages of solid references and responded quickly! I'd suggest putting an ad up there right now. By tomorrow morning you will have 10 people answering you, and beleive me, you will be able to sift through the average ones for the one that is good for you.
