T.T.
We make waffles (toster kind) or pancakes and warm them before we leave the house. They can eat them room temp at the daycare with fresh fruit.
My almost 2 year old started "big-boy" school after being at a home daycare since he was 9 months old and she always made breakfast. So, now at the new daycare we bring breakfast but it can not be heated up, so I am running out of ideas of what to take. We always do a fruit, and I have taken Nutri-Grain bars, pop tarts, donuts and cereal. Unfortunaly my son is not a big cereal guy so I am not sure what else I could take. If you could provide some ideas that would be great!!

bagelfulls they are a stick bagel filled with cream cheese very yummy and good cold also a good serving for a kid that size
I agree that you don't need to be limited by traditional breakfast foods. What about PB&J? Pita with hummus? Things like zucchini bread, banana bread, etc, are also great with peanut butter!
I would heat the food before he gets to school and put it in a ready to go container. It's not a bad option...that way it's room temperature by the time he arrives.
My little one eats Cheerios w/o milk and yogurt(gogurts) when we are in a hurry. She also loves string cheese, cheerios (no milk) and juice in the am.
Good Luck...I know how challenging it can be to make sure they get the nutrition they need for a long day.
Mini-muffins - you can make big batches at home, so you can control sugar content, use whole grain flours, etc. My kids loved banana ones and blueberry are also great. Date/choc chip are also good. Also, you can make mini quiches in mini muffin pans (they used to have some good pre-made little quiches at Sam's). Quiche is quite good served cold. And, you don't have to limit yourself to traditional breakfast foods - some rolled up turkey lunchmeat is fine.
Maybe I'm crazy, but why don't you feed him before you take him to daycare?
How about homemade dollar pancakes? I make them on the weekends and put them in baggies to take for quick snacks. I put more sugar than you're suppose to so that they don't need syrup or maybe you can put syrup in the batter. Anyway here it is.
1 1/4 cup Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
2 tbsp Sugar (I use 1/4 cup)
3/4 tsp Salt
Mix those together a little then add,
1 1/4 cup Milk (water is horrible, and if in a pinch try powdered milk in water)
1 egg
3 tbsp Vegetable oil ( a must for a non-stick batter)
I use a flat skillet and at 1st a small amount of a non-stick spray, but then you won't need it for the rest of the pancakes and the 1st one comes out a little .... well fried. still good but you can taste the oil. I use 1/4 measure cup and pour out about 3-4 with it to make dollar size pancakes. If you don't know, they bubble up a little then they are ready to flip just about 30 seconds to a minute they are ready to take off and eat. I really hope this helps. & to others this is a great pancake recipe to add blueberries, frozen strawberries, well any berries you like but I've had problems with bananas but I think it's an issue with finding a combination with less milk. Happy cooking.
Have you tried waffles, toast w/cream cheese or jelly. My son loves cream cheese w/jelly, peanut butter n toast. Just heat it right before you are out the door. french toast, muffins, blueberry muffins, blue berry crumb bread which my son loves too.
Hope this helps.
You could do breakfast bars from carnation, or there are all types of 'cereal' bars like cheerios, cocoa puffs, and stuff like that. Maybe yogurt with a little bit of granola cereal and/or fruit to mix in it would be a good way to start the day. Fruit cocktail (in a can or homemade). You could even try some sort of tail mix with nuts and dried fruit. Hope this helps.
my son loves his cereal bars, cocoa puffs are his fave, maybe not the nutrition you want though. We always have a portable breakfast for him. We also do the pop tarts. Maybe yogurt is a choice, pre-packaged (or homemade) muffins. Good luck
My boys love PBJ sandwhiches for breafast and it gives them nutrition. If your son likes bananas and peanut butter make a sandwich out of it. My boys think that is fun..Also they really like sausage so I make it some sausage patties and bisquits the night before then put them together and heat them in the morning. If you wrap them in foil really good they will stay warm and he can have that. Good luck thats tough. I am glad my daycare makes breakfast for them..Hope those ideas help..
My daughter enjoys grilled cheese sandwiches for breakfast sometimes, my son ham and cheese. For the grilled cheese I cook it that morning and wrap in foil. It stays very warm. For my son he eats his ham and cheese dry so I don't do anything for that. If you want to change it up some you can always do cookie cut out shapes for the sandwiches.
what about cinnamon raisin bread...or honey buns..or cinnamon rolls, french toast sticks, mini waffles, mini pancakes, chewy granola bars???
