we made an appointment at the police station on halstead and belmont. sorry, I don't remember teh officers name.
Hello,
We installed our new carseat and need it inspected. I realize I may need to make an appointment. We live off Addison & Paulina. Does anyone know of somewhere we take it?
Thanks.
Thank you everyone for all of your tips. My husband was able to bring our car to the Arlington Heights Police Department. You need to be a resident, but since he owns a business in AH, they took us.

We live near there too and we got our carseat inspected at the Police Station on Belmont an Western. The contact is:

go to www.seatcheck.org and click on "click here to find a location near you" or call 1-866-SEAT CHECK (yes, I know that's more than 7 numbers, but hey that's what the site lists!).
type in your information and you'll be directed to a location where you can have this done.

It is a spreadsheet that has all of the stations available from the government to do inspections. I just went on there (I have to do the same thing) and it's down for maintenance but I have been on there before so I'm sure it will be up and running again soon.
any fire department should be fine.
Call ###-###-#### and ask for P.O. Stranski, She is a Chicago Police Officer and is certified on Car Seat installations. She works in the 018th district which is located at 1160 N. Larrabee.
I think she does inspections on Sundays.
My husband and I have searched around a ton and not found anything all that helpfull. Communities close to the city, like Evanston, used to do it but don't anymore and other places only do it on certain dates. Right now we installed it ourselves and we'll have to use it as is until our appointment in about a month. Please post again if you have any better luck finding someone to check it out.
State Farm Insurance also does it at different sites and locations. You can check out their website.
Apparently in the suburbs you can take it to your local fire dept to get checked. THey dont offer that in the city. Believe it or not, there is a gentleman at the mcgrath lexus dealership(right at the division st exit of 90/94) He is certified and was willing to check ours for no charge ( i just tipped him). We dont even drive a Lexus and he didnt seem to mind. You may want to call first and see if he's still available.
According to a friend of mine, the Lincolnwood police (straight up Lincoln Avenue at about 7000 north) are more than happy to inspect or even install car seats.
Your local police station is trained to inspect car seats. I learned that in a child birth class.
I thought most fire departments did this. You might want to call 311 and ask..they might know.
The State Farm location is at Addison and California. They do it once a month. Worth checking out if you live at Addison and Paulina.
I think its called the Rehabilitation Institute at NW memorial does car seat checks for $15. Call the main # at NWM and they should be able to help you.
Hi L.,
I used Carol at St. Francis Hospital (she is a nurse in the trauma center). She is a NTSB certified car seat installer and has installed 4 carseats for us. She is great and she may be able to get you in.
Good luck.
