I recently moved from Illinois to Holt, MI. I am looking for ideas of fun things to do with my 3 yr old and 1 yr old girls. I would like to get out of the house a little so the tv isn't always on. I used to work full time and since moving I am now a stay at home mom, so this is new to me. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, it is hard in the winter to go places. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all your wonderfull suggestions. I went to the library for story time and both girls had fun. I picked up a community ed book to look at some of the classes offered for preschoolers. I have also been taking my 3 yr old outside to play in the snow more, we built a snowman this week and made some snow angels. So again thank you very much for giving me some great ideas.

Those ages are hard in the winter. When my kids were little I bought a sled I could pull with a rope around the neighborhood with them in it.

Also build a snowman, make snow angels. I also had snowball and snow brick makers to make snow forts--my kids loved that. You can put colored water in a spray bottle and paint the snow.

Then of course after all the cold fun hot chocolate is a must!

Congratulations on being a SAHM--you won't regret it!

Have fun:)

One place I would suggest is Impression 5, http://www.impression5.org/. They just put in a new toddler area. I haven't had the chance to check it out myself, but plan on it soon.

I live in Lansing, MI so I understand your frustration. My daughter is 7 years old so there are a few more activities for her to do than your little ones. Check with the Delhi Township Parks and Recs they have alot of activities for younger kids to do. There are also loves of activities thru the Lansing Parks and Rec...but a small additional fee for not being a resident of Lansing. Thru the Lansing Parks and Recs I signed for up for Teddy Bear Indoor Soccer (winter), Tumbling, little Kickers (outdoors-spring) and little hoopers (indoors). All this and more is offered to the younger children, and I know that they have a wide range of activities are offered during the day. The link to LP&R is: http://www.cityoflansingmi.com/Lansing/parks/docs/guide.pdf it pulls up as a pdf file.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I live in Lansing and have a few ideas of things to do. Through Great Parents Great Starts is a play group for kids 1-3 years old. It is free and run through Ingham Intermediate School District. You can go to the ISD website and search for it to find days and times, they have them all over the area. My 2 year old has been going for a year now and loves it. Meridian Mall is opening a kid play area at the end of next week, which I am really excited about. The libraries have story times for your age group, just go to cadl.org to find the branch near you and look up times. Those are the free things. On Tuesdays at Soccer Zone they open up their big inflatable jumpers and climbers and soccer fields for $3. Edru Skate A Rama in Holt does toddler skate on Thursday mornings for $5. There is Impression 5 Science Center in Downtown Lansing that is cool and they just opened up a room for 4 and under with stuff for them to do. That is all that I can think of for now. Hope that gives you some ideas.

One of my best friends lives in Holt with her 3 children ages 3 weeks, 22mo, and a 5yr old. I know their library in Holt has a weekly story time. Maybe you can look into that my kids just love to go to the library.

Winter is an awful time but if your a stay at home might I suggest you check into the Harris Nature Center, Y or the library. All 3 have toddler programs. I have a 2 year old and we have done 2 programs at the nature center and she just adores it. I also notice alot of stuff at the libraries too.
