Need Help!! Baby Has Terrible Gas I Yhink

When my son was a baby I had the same problem. For him I had to get low iron formula. That really helped with the constipation. Each of my babies had a different brand of formula. Everybody is different, you will find the right one.

Hi S.. I like you, had the same problem. And with the same formulas. I ended up putting my lil' girl on the Enfamil "Gentlease." It was great. She had hardly any gas at all and no constipation. Althought her stools were loose the pediatrician said not to worry about it. Better loose than constipation they told me. The gentlease still has lactose (milk sugar) but on 1/4 of what regular formula does and it's broken down so the baby can digest it easier (which is why the stool can be a little loose). I tried soy but it just seemed to make all the problems worse. My lil' girl was back to her happy self once on the Gentlease. Best of luck to you. P.S. The gas drops you can buy over the counter work wonders. If my kids ever seemed extra gassy just a couple of drops in their mouth or bottles really helped.

Well i use the mylicon gas relief drops there safe enough to use at every feeding and they seem to help and i know that Enfamil has formula for gassy babys you could give that a try hope every thing works out well good luck

I recommend checking with your pediatrician. You may need to see a pediatric GI doctor. Also, check the bottles that you are using that she is not swallowing a lot of air. Does she have a tight seal around the nipple? You may need to experiment with bottles & nipples also. By the way, we use prune juice and Miralax for constipation.

I had the same problem with my now 2 y/o and the best thing I did for him was switch his formula to Isomil. It's a soy based formula and in two days the gas problem was gone. Also when it was time to switch from formula to regular milk there wasn't any problem. Check it out it even say's it's good for gas on the lable!!

We realized my baby had some aversion to cow's milk. He would be super gassy, very colicky and almost impossible to deal with. A girlfriend suggested I switch to soy milk. I mentioned it to my doctor who said it sounded like sound advice. Within a couple of feeding's, I had my sweet baby back and that colicky stuff, and screaming on end had subsided and wa gone!!!!!!!! It was a miracle. I swear. I spent like 45 minutes on the phone with an advice nurse before the soy milk. Also, if she has gas, a good way to relieve it is to push her legs up to her stomach and make bike riding motions with her legs, helping the gas to pass through the intestines. Good Luck!

My baby had the same problem she is still constipated at times we just try and give her prune juice how have you got yours to stop being constipated? For her gassiness I put her on Lacotse free enfamil and similac after that she has been fine she is 13 months now and she can handle regular milk. Her doctor says that their is findings that soy is not good for babys I had her on that in lactose free so I just switched to regular lactose free

The Costco-version of Enfamil probably had a lot of iron in it. That is typically what constipates babies. Look for an Enfamil formula that doesn't have iron in it, or doesn't have as much.

How old is she? If she's started solid foods already you could also add prunes or spinach to her diet to loosen her BMs.

For immediate relief of gas, try laying her on her back, grab her feet, and move her knees up to her chest, then straighten her legs, over and over until she passes gas. You can try both legs together and then if you get nothing, one leg at a time kind of like bicycling. If she's too upset to let you move her legs, pick her up, hold her facing away from you with one arm under both of her arms, and grab her bum and rotate it in a clockwise circle, like hula hooping. Both of these poses help to pas gas that is past the point of burping. (See the book Itsy-Bitsy Yoga -- great book!)

You should also consider the bottle you're using, I know they have special "no-gas" designs now.

My son had the same problem with the Nestle Goodstart. I swithced to the Enfamil Gentlease when I saw it was for babies with fussines and gas and have not had a problem since. My son is now almost 9 months old. I never used the Costco brand before so I can't comment on that. I also sometimes use the Parent's Choice brand Gentle that is essentially the generic form of Enfamil and have not had a problem with that either. You can get it at Wal-Mart and pay $15 as opposed to $27 for the Enfamil. Anyway, I hope this helps. It sucks to see your baby uncomfortable like that. I hope she feels better soon.

Try an alternative to milk-based formula, like soy. Also, you can try putting mylecon drops in the bottle of formula. THey will help her with the gas.

Sounds like your baby could be lactose intolerant, I'd talk to your baby's doctor and find out if switching to a soy based formula would work for him.

Try Enfamil GentleEase it worked really well on the baby boy I watch. Also have you tried Mylicone drops to ease the gas ? Good Luck

Just wondering what the age of your baby is cause if your child is between the ages of 6weeks and 6 months it could be colic, so you may want to check with your ped. Also it is not a good thing to be constantly changing your childs formula, as it can cause tummy issues, and changing the formula is something that should be decided on your childs dr, so you really ought to see him or her.

I was told by a pediatrician and WIC to always stick with the same brand of formula just try a different version. Enfamil has all kinds of versions for gassy, babies that spit up alot etc. So if you were good with the Enfamil I would talk to the babies pediatrician first but try another version of it. Nestle also has a lot of options too. GOOD LUCK!
ps... there are also gas drops out there in the baby meds or baby section I would try those too, they always worked great with my kids...you can also push their legs up into the tummy area, it might hurt them a little b/c of that built up gas but it helps get it out a lot faster!

I would go back to the formula that is NOT gassy. A gassy baby is hard to fix with out medicine, and even then it's still difficult. For constipation you can add a little bit of gerber prune/apple juice to the formula maybe an ounce or so and in about 24hours you should see results.

Usually the doctor won't see a baby for constipation until it's over 3 days or more depending on the doctor, so if you can fix it withn prune juice you are good to go.

When I was nursing my first, he was constipated and I started eating 2 prunes a day. Problem solved. worked for me. :)

You can switch him back to the other formula and try giving him 1-2 oz of prune juice mixed in with his bedtime bottle for constipation. We have to do this every night with our daughter. She hasn't been constipated in months. Good luck!

Try Enfamil Gentlease formula. It is more expensive than the brands you are using but it works miracles. It stopped my son's constipation and my older son used it because he had colic. Don't switch back now that the constipation is gone. I tried that too and he just got constipated again. And Milicon works great too!

How old is your baby now? Could be a case of colic. The vaccuum cleaner is what we used. The noise calmed our son down.

I had a similar situation and it turned out that my baby was sensitive to milk protein (which is in most formulas). You can try a soy based type...that didn't work for me. We ended up on Alamentum...you may want to consult your pediatrician as this may be a bigger issue. Good luck!

Have you started her on baby food yet? You did not indicate an age...If you have you can incorporate flax oil daily into her food and that will help manage the regularity.

Gripe Water, or Mylecon are great for gas relief.

She may have an issue with dairy, or some other ingredients. Ask your doctor.

Have you tried mylecon? (not sure if it is spelled right) it comes in a small bottle w/ a green label, it is in most stores, including Raley's. My son was very gassy, and screamed when he was an enfant. The doctor recommended it, but it only worked for the hour after we gave it to him. The bottle says to give it to him only every four hours. When I called my health insurance help line and talked to the nurse, she had me read the ingredients to her, and say you can't o.d. him on it, give it to him when he needs it. We did and we had a happy baby. After feeding him we gave him a dose and kept a close eye on him for the next couple of hours and when he fussed, we gave him a dose. Stinky gas, but happy baby!!!!!
