I have a 15 month old daughter and a 1 month old daughter and my husband and I are looking for a double stroller for the girls. But we are not sure which one would be the best choice for our us. We were thinking of getting the Peg Perego Aria double stroller but have read reviews that it's not that great and the Graco strollers are heavy and bulky. I also have read about the Phil & Teds E3 stroller but will it work with children this close in age??? We are looking for something that isn't too heavy or bulky and still have room to put a diaper bag in or at least be able to add a organizer to. We would prefer a tray with a cupholder but not a must. We would like a stroller in which I can go to the store with both girls and be able to get through doorways and aisles. PLEASE help!!! I want to hear from mom's that have a double stroller and which one they have and what they like and dislike about their stroller.... What stroller be the best fit for my girls that this close in age???

What can I do next?

I have the Graco duo glider and I love it. It has a basket for the diaper bag and the car seats will lock into it. both the front and back seat have cup holders. I also have a side by side stroller and it is too hard to take into stores, the mall is a lost cause. With the duo glider i can manuver it almost anywhere. Its a little bulky but it folds easy and its easy to use. Hope it helps

I have the peg perego tender twin. it's a tandem stroller. i have a friend who recommended it. it's MUCH lighter than any other stoller we looked at. it folds pretty compactly compared to others. it fits in the trunk of my car and i still have room for other things. it steers and manuevers great. the only thing i didn't like about it was the fact that the storage compartments underneath were small. (2 small ones, 1 under each seat). and the one in the front isn't exactly convenient to get to (you have to lift the foot rest). i got a diaper bag that attaches to the handle and that solved the problem for me. now i think it's great. :)

whatever you do DO NOT GET THE EDDIE BAUER lightweight tandum double stroller. its lightweight but has no basket for diaperbags. its hard to push. its hard to fold down. it comes with a cup hold but it doesnt stay on. The Front kid doesnt have a place for their feet. it totally sucks!

I finally got the graco duo glider LX. Yes, its kinda bulky but I can stear it with one hand. I have a huge basket underneath for the diaper bags, juices etc... i have a cup holder thats sturdy. the seats recline in 2 positions. My 3 year old has a place for his feet!! I got it on sale just this sunday for $95 at sears!!!

My bestfriend has the Phil & Teds E3 stroller, and she has a 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old. She got it when her second was born and I've been jealous ever since. Even though we haven't had our second child yet, when we do that's the one I'm getting. Its easy to use, has many functions and is durable. Plus its not wider then a regular stroller, its basically the same size, just a little longer. Its amazing, I totally recomend it!!!!!!!!!! I find that my single baby stroller is harder to use then theirs!!

I second the Combi double stroller that the other woman suggested. I have a 3 month old and an 18 month old, and I LOVE it. Easy to manuver and light weight! Good luck!

I totally agree with Shayna B about the Eddie Bauer Tandem stroller. I received it as a gift and have all the same complaints that Shayna already mentioned. I look forward to seeing what the other moms recommend!

R.,

I would suggest going to www.eopinions.com (consumer reviews for any product you want to research)

I'm expecting twins in June and have been looking for the right double stroller as well. I stop mothers of twins when I'm at the store and ask their opinions. Most mothers that I've asked prefer the tandum strollers because it's easier to manuever in stores. I just bought the Graco duo glider because
I personally like it and I don't think it's bulky at all.
I hope this helps...

I have a 23 month-old and a 7 month-old, we have the Graco double (the inline style) that worked with the infant carseat. It is wonderful, the carseat can lock into the front or back spot and the back spot's tray opens for easy access once the kids are sitting in the seat itself. We recently switched from using the infant carseat, to just putting the baby in the regular seat in the stroller and he loves it. Usually my older one ends up in the front seat because she wants to look around and the baby is in the rear seat, which is great because it reclines all the way for when he falls asleep, the front seat only reclines part-way. It is big and a little heavy, but I manage it myself. And if you are already toting around 2 kids, then you will be able to handle it. It does have the one-hand release/folding system which is cool. It took me a couple of trips out to get used to the length, but it's no probably now. We had also looked at the "sit & stand" I can't remember who makes that one, but it is online all over the place. It looks cool, but the spot for the older kid, who can sit or stand up, doesn't recline at all.

I absolutely LOVE my Combi Twin Savvy EX. It is a side-by-side stroller that fits through an average size doorway and it acomodates a Combi infant car seat on one side. I regularly say how glad I am that we made the investment in this stroller (I really wanted a side-by-side). It is fairly light weight, and folds up really well for a double stroller--I find it quite easy to use. However, it has cup holders, but does not have a tray. I got ours online at StrollerDepot.com. Happy stroller shopping!!!

I went crazy researching double strollers. I have a 4 yr old and a 5 month old. I decided against a double and choose to get a sling and other types of baby carriers. I LOVE it. I still use my single stroller for my 4 year old but I carry my 17lb 5 month old everywhere and it is so easy and convenient. I can walk around the mall or home shows for hours at a time with no back pain or having to worry about how to get a double stroller manuvered around a crowed place or narrow doors. I have a Maya Ring sling for quick trips and a BabyHawk Mei Tai for longer trips. There are SOO many types of carrier out there that work much better than what you can find at Target or BRU. I don't regret not getting a double stroller one bit. :)

We have the Maclaren Twin Techno and I LOVE it. They can be pricey, but no more than the Peg Perego Aria. This one has a great sunshade, folds easily, has individual reclining backs (so your little one can lay down and your bigger one can sit up), etc. It's great!

My cousin has a double stroller, Which she has told me is harder to manuver and get around the store with since its longer. I have a Graco single stroller and it is alittle heavy then I thought it would be and is rather bulky, the back wheels stick out more and seem to get caught on walls and racks when we're making turns, We're really dissapointed on the quality of the stroller since the flip up tray broke off with just the force of her pushing on it before she was 3 months old. We wont be purchasing another Graco product with our next child and already have plans to purchase a sit'n'stand since I have heard nothing but good things about it. It even has the locking system to allow car seats to be placed on the stroller, I'm not sure where you're located but the sit'n'stand has a demo out at Babies'R'Us on Van Nuyes Blvd. Definatly worth seeing, Its made up our minds!

I LOVED my Sit-n-Stand stroller! I can hold the baby seat in front w/ a removeable attachement & then evetually have a tray/cup attachment. The child in back & sit OR stand & it has a seat belt. It has a roomy compartment underneath.

It WAS bulky & not very sporty (regardless I still took mine rollerblading w/ both littles in tow! lol). But since I got mine...I believe they have a lighterweight ____@____.com & it's front back not side to side so it is not that wide.

Good luck! ;-)

Try going to Target's website and browse the tandem strollers they have. They have a big inventory of strollers that they don't have at the store. Each item has reviews from parents and a 5 star rating system. If you find a stroller that sounds good, but they don't have it at Target then just get it somewhere else like Baby's R Us. It's helped me with so many of my purchases. If there's anything someone hates about an item, it's all in the review. It's so helpful for me- hope it is for you as well.

My kids will be just a few months further apart than yours. I bought the Peg Perego Duette, but since the baby isn't here yet, I can't give you any info on how it's working.

I went back and forth between the Duette and the Phil and Ted stroller myself. And decided like you, not for this close in age.

I have gone through so many strollers. First I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and a 18mon old. We first go the Graco Duo Glider. Yes it is a little bulky but I had no problems with it when it was just my two oldest. I loved it. It was easy to get around anywhere. When I had my youngest I noticed it was always a fight with my two oldest of who got to sit in the seat. Well after seeing the Sit-n-Stand I knew that was what I needed. So I did a lot of researching online, asked a lot of moms about different sit-n-stands and I went to babies r us and tried them out. The biggest thing was if I could push it with one hand. I found the JOOVY CABOOSE! I LOVE IT! MY KIDS LOVE IT! I can put the 3 y/o in the front seat my 5 y/o in the back and hold my youngest and still push it all over the place with one hand. But that usually never happens because my kids love to ride in the stroller. I can actually have all three in the stroller. One in the front seat, one sitting in the back seat and one standing in the back seat. The JOOVY has really made my life easy. It also is light, they have a new one that is lighter. It is easy to fold. I just really love this stroller. It also has a carseat kit for the front seat. Just take a look at this stroller. Enjoy Shopping!

Hi R.

My babies are 18 months apart (now 2 years and 6 months old) and we got the Phil & Teds E3 stroller with the add-on seat when my youngest was born. GREAT STROLLER! What is so neat about it is that you can use it in multiple variations for whatever combination of children's ages you have. When my youngest was a newborn, we had it so she would lie flat underneath the add-on seat which easily attached to the front. and when she was old enough to sit up at about 4 months, we switched the add-on seat to the back and sat up the main seat where my son (2)sits in the front and she sits in the back.

the neatest thing about this stroller is how small it fold. It is really well made and has a decent sized basket. the handle is really nice and ergonomically correct as well as adjustable (we are a tall couple and this was a plus for us). it is super thin in width also, which is the opposite of the side-by-side strollers that are available. this makes it so much easier to go shopping, to museums, travel...

This stroller is super well-made! The material is really durable and easily cleans up. It is the easiest stroller that i have ever used. easy to steer, easy to fold, light enough to pick up and throw into your trunk without a struggle. and it fits in the trunk too!

There are some draw-backs. My biggest complaint is that you must be sure to have the heavier child in the front seat when you have it in the add-on-seat in the back configuration. if you have a child in the back seat without someone in the front, it will tip over backwards which is dangerous. I have figured out that you can always counterweight by placing a bag or purse or whatever you bring along with you, in the front seat. My other complaint is about the sun-protection. there is a small canopy-cover that is basically one-directional that only covers the front seat partially. if you are walking towards the sun, your child will be in the sun. and the back seat doesn't have any cover. sun from the front or back is not a problem here, but from the sides, it is full-on. I have learned to bring two lightweight blankets to strategically wrap around different parts of the stroller to create more sun-coverage. it works for us. Lastly, this stroller is also expensive!!! Oh, make sure you get the new one with the wheel guards.

after all that i have said, I would still recommend this stroller. I love it and don't plan on needing another stroller.

good luck shopping,
C.
