I went out and bought the special laminate cleaner and was disappointed too (lots of streaks). Then I tried the swiffer wet wipes, (not the swiffer mop, but the acutal wet wipes) and the floors looked great, no streaks!
I have new laminate wood flooring in the bedrooms. Love not having carpet but having issues keep this clean. The kids bedrooms are a matte finish and no issues with cleaning. the master bedroom is a glossy finish on the laminate and everything i try to use leaves streaks. the floor will look nice for a couple hours and the gets streaky and feels like there is a residue and then we get footprints in the "residue" from walking on the floor by the next day!! I have tried the Bruce hardwood/laminate floor cleaner from Lowe's. someone suggested Windex w/ammonia...still didn't work. I sweep with a broom/dustpan and then use an o'cedar brand flat mop with washable cloth cover (don't use dryer sheets or fabric softener when washing) Please help!! the sticky streaks are making me crazy!!!!
Thank you everyone! i will keep all suggestions handy just in case but so far i tried the vinegar and water in a spray bottle and the floor looks fabulous...feels good too! no more stick streaky residue.

Hi There.. My dad has that kind of flooring in his living room at his house and I clean it 1 a week. I use the pledge floor mop wipes. They work great and dont leave streaks. I hope this helps you..

I was just researching this today! Lots of people online say they just use a spray bottle of vinegar and water...someone said distilled water works best?? Good luck!
I would check again with Lowe's and tell them what is going on, they may have the answer you need with a different cleaner.
B.,
Try Bona for hardsurface floors with the microfiber mop. It is amazing. You can usually find it at Ace Hardware stores.
How funny! I too was just researching this topic yesterday! I am going to try the vinegar solution in a spray bottle as well. 1/2 cup vinegar to 1 gallon water. I have been using windex without ammonia, but I still see footprints within an hour.
My in-laws use a mixture of vinegar and water and it seems to work well but I'd probably still try my shark first. Good luck...
I know you won't believe this, but use the flat mop with water only. I was in the cleaning business for 12 years. I had a customer with the same type of floor that you described. It was a master bedroom floor. We tried several detergent cleaners and every thing streaked. We settled on water and a flat mop. It worked. I saw this customer in the post office several months after we had discontinued our services. She begged me to tell her what we used on her floors. I jokingly told her it was our company secret. I did tell her. She could not believe it. She had spent a good deal of money on cleaners and everything hazed or streaked. Remove dust with a dust mop and then damp mop with water. If you keep up with the cleaning, you won't have to disinfect. Happy cleaning!!!
Hi B.,
I'm a Gold Canyon Demonstrator here in Pflugerville and we have a cleaning line called Homeology. Our floor cleaner is "Lavender Eucalyptus Sweet Orange." It is a plant based cleaner with no ammonia or phosphates, no chlorine and no artificial dyes. It works great on hardwood/laminate floors with no streaking and smells great. We have a special website for our Homeology products www.begreencleanblue.com Check it out.

Thanks for asking this question, I am in same situation. I thought it was bc of me. I tried all the things you did as well. I've read some of the replies and it has helped me. Thansk.
I've heard 1 part vinegar and 10 parts water works well.
Have you tried checking the Swiffer Wet Jet. It has a few different types of cleaners you can use and I'm sure they have one that goes with your type of flooring. I absolutely love it. Works great on all my floors. We just recently got laminate wood as well, so I will be trying it out on that soon and will let you know how it goes on my floors if you like. I also use the swiffer sweeper vac that's great for getting up dust and dirt off any of my hard floors.
I have real wood floors and I use vinger, little dish soap and water in a spray bottle and use a dust type mop for wood floors. You will need to spray lightly and then mop over it as normal and then allow to dry. My floors shine afterwards. My girlfriend does this for her floors which are laminate. It works extremely well and she is very happy.
You have to be careful as to what you use on your floors as some products will damage your floors even though they may say good to use on wood or laminate floors. Not always the case.
So I asked the company who laid down our floors and this is what he reccomended.
Hi B.. I had real wood floors at my last house and i had the same problem. I would try everything and it still left streaks. Finally, I got Zep wood floor cleaner from Home Depot. I had to get on my hands and knees and scrub the whole floor to get the "residue" off but once I did, it was beautiful with no streaks. I don't know how well it will work for laminate floors but it's worth a shot to ask. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.
My son-in-law just put in similar floors and has found the "only" way to prevent streaks is to first mop with water and bleach then to mop with Orange Glo (if you're interested I will check on the amount of bleach to water and the second item to be 100% certain). Their floors are beautiful and streak free!!
I use the Shark steam mop on all my hard floors (hardwood, tile, stained concrete). It works great and only uses water and steam so no yucky chemicals will be left on the floors. I switched to this when my son started crawling. My father was concerned about his exposure to the chemicals used in the common "spray and wipe" flooring cleaning options.
Work for a cleaning/flooring company & you should not have to do anything other than damp mop, you can even use just a mild dish det. in water, if wanting an additional shine, use orange glow. Hope this helps.
Bissel steam mop....it's wonderful!
To remove the dirt and to leave no streaks on my laminate floors I use simple green and boiling hot water to mop with. The key is the boiled water because it dries faster and leaves a streak free shine.
I use the Shark Steam Mop on our hardwood floors and tile. Yes, it's even safe for wood. I've been very pleased! No chemicals and it's SO easy to use! You just have to buy distilled water. Costco sells them the cheapest.
I'd worry about using something like vinegar, it's acidic and destroys the finish!! Just do a google search, yeah some people use it but then others warn that it will eat the finish (which is what I thought but did a good search to make sure.)
I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions, my MIL had beautiful laminate flooring that she covered with rugs because the spots and streaks drover her nuts too. :(

I had laminate floors for years. The best way to clean is just some warm water and vinegar. Use a regular sponge or swiffer type mop. You can also put this mixture in a spray bottle and use a swiffer type mop. I never used anything else on my floors and they shine without streaks. Don't worry about the smell of vinegar.I t will dissipate within a few minutes.
Hello B.,
I need the very same advice. Have you gotten any good suggestions on this yet? Please let me know what is the best solution to use when cleaning laminate floors. I just got some put in myself.
Thanks alot!

I have the same issue on my matte laminate... how do you clean yours? :(
