I am in the process of starting my own business but am overwhelmed by the paperwork and legal jargon. Does anyone know where I could get help doing this or know someone who would be willing to mentor me? thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for the suggestions. I have decided to use the Small Business Development Center at Collin County Community College. They have already given me a time to speak to a business counselor and they offer free courses. Looks like I am on my way... :)

I am doing the same and have talked to SCORE. You can go to their website, which I don't have at the moment, and find a mentor and email him/her with your questions. They get back to you in 48 hours. Mine was quicker. He is in Plano. They have them all over.

Have you checked into the Small Business Association? You can find them in the yellow pages....you can meet with them for free & they can help you with any paperwork/questions you have.

Hi, K.. Did you ever find someone to help you get your business going? If you ever need any assistance, I'd be happy to help in whatever way I can. I had my own part time business for 2 years before I had to go back to work full time due to family issues. But I really enjoyed it and was pretty successful. I've always believed that the only way to be successful is to help others become successful. I'm curious what you new business is all about.

There is also something called SCORE - www.score.org or http://www.score.org/women.html - Service Corps of Retired Executives - you might have a local chapter near you. Free, confidential business advice for entrepreneurs. Good luck!
