Need Help with Feeding Cereal

I am just starting to feed my four month old cereal in her bottle. She refuses it. I keep trying less and less amounts and I don't think she is getting any at all. Should I stop trying for awhile? Her appointment is in a few weeks for a check up. I couldn't get her in any earlier, so I would love some suggestions until I can talk to her doctor.

What can I do next?

My first son when he started cereal it was a disaater. He would get too much air from swallowing off of a spoon when he took a bite. They have these bottles that are made for food. You can't put formula in them and I don't think that a normal one would work. They are pretty cheap, like 4 bucks or something. I think that we got it at Toys R Us... Geoferys out here. Anywho the nipple is really hard and it has an open bottom with a disc like piece. When the baby sucks the disc pushes the food up. It doesn't let any air through. They know the sucking part so just the cereal that is new for the baby. It isn't hard at all to get them to transition from that bottle to a spoon. Have fun!!!

Try feeding her cereal not in a bottle but by spoon. Mix her cereal with her formula. Not to thick. You can even put a little baby food fruit in it like applesauce or bananas. Just make sure it's thin for her first couple of feedings.

M., When my children were younger they didn't like eating their cereal from the bottle because it was too hard for them to suck the cereal out. So i decide to just start feeding them the cereal with a spoon. I would mix the cereal with their formula in a bowl and add a little fruit to give it some taste and they loved it that way... Try this it might work out great for you and you will have a happy baby with a full tummy...

Try feeding her in a high chair with a spoon. The latest advise out there is that you are not supposed to put rice cereal in a bottle unless the child has acid reflux because it can lead to over eating.

Dear M.
Start your baby with only the rice cereal just add 1/2 of teaspoon at first she should be able to drink her milk because if won't be over loaded with cereal if everything goes well in 2 weeks add a little more.
I hope this was helpfull. Good luck!!!
And congratulations for being a first time mom.
