Need Help with "NON FOOD" Birthday Treats!

BUBBLES!!! Kids love Bubbles! or playdough!

Hi fellow Plainfield Mom! I'm a Ridge Elementary parent and we started this last year as a pilot for the district. I am SO glad they did honestly. I can't tell you how many times my older dd would come in the door from walking home and have candy in her mouth already. Well, I probably can tell you, since it was almost 30 times each year, lol.

This year I got jump ropes on clearance and sent those in with a note that said, "Jump into 1st grade by celebrating Elise's Birthday!". Last year I sent a stamp pad that I had found and said, "Create a great friendship this year by celebrating Elise turning 5". (Elise's birthday is August 23rd, so it's the first day of school or close to the first.)

I have sent in stuffed animals that hold pictures, tubes of playdough, tubes of plastic animals and other small dollar store or dollar spot at Target toys. One year I found puzzles for really cheap and sent those for each kid. I keep track of when the dollar spot stuff goes 75% off and buy up 30 of whatever then stick it away for when their bdays come up.

The girls have gotten stickers, little notebooks (they LOVE THESE!!), pencils, cool erasers, and other things like that.

Just a little treat bag with stuff - Oriental trading has a bunch of little things like that. Also Target. My son loves wrist bands (girls could get bracelets), hot wheels, baseball cards, something Autumn-themed. Stickers are always fun, fun (and cheap) rubber stamps. Good luck.

Our school district also does this which I think is GREAT! I am sick of my child coming home with a bag full of candy. I usually look at Target, Dollar Stores, or even Orientaltrading.com has great items. Some items you can have personalized and they are not that expensive. I usually get together with a friend and we order together so that we can qualify for free shipping! Good Luck.

I am mom from Homer Glen and my kids school suggested kids books as a birthday treat, I went to the dollar store and bought coloring books or little kids books, they loved them!

our school district instituted this policy too. besides the pencils, stickers etc. this isn't much out there. They also encouraged donating a book to the classroom.

I agree with Oriental Trading or the dollar store. Pencils and erasers are great for treat bags. Also stickers.
