Okay everyone, here is my situation. My daughter will be turning 8 the first part of September. We have friends and relatives here that total about 15 kids before she invites any of her friends from school. So, we are looking at about 25-30 kids and I don't want to spend an arm or leg! It is still too hot to have anything outside. We live on Higley and the 60 - any ideas?????
Thanks everyone!

What can I do next?

If you have it early enough or later in the evening it's really not to bad. But we rented a waterslide if you have room for it because are family is the same way just inviting family there are 25 of us & that's not inviting friends. So we just did hot dogs (buy cheap costco)& did a waterslide $99 they all had a blast we did 10am because it was July

We went to a party once where the mom bought a bunch of terra cotta flower pots and paint for the kids to paint. She also bought a bag of potting soil and some of those cute little flowers that come 6 or 8 in those little squares and they all got to plant their own flowers to bring home. That was really fun for them.
Or depending on their age and your space, you break them into teams and come up with a fun scavenger hunt around the house and just a little bit outside depending on the clues.
Or get some plain white wrapping paper (the kind you can decorate yourself) and tape it to a wall or 2 and let them color it for a fun momento for your daughter.
Or combine all 3 to have an afternoon full of stuff to do!!

Had a T-Shirt Painting party at my house this June for my daughter's bday. It was great! Carolyn Woodburn, ###-###-####, is her name. She brings everything for the party drop clothes, paints, stamps and stencils, paint brushes, and aprons to protect their cloths. I had 20 kids and it cost me 145.00 plus 4.00 a t-shirt. She used the beefy haines so they wash and wear well.

Hope your daughter has a great bday,
S. P.

Now that bowling alleys are smoke-free (and therefore kid-friendly) most bowling alleys host kid birthday parties. They reserve you the use of a few lanes for a specific amount of time, then provide pizza and drinks. You can bring your own cake. It's nice and cool, the kids have fun and can be as noisy as they like. Best part is that you leave all the mess behind! Not too expensive, either.

Have you thought about renting a water slide inflatable? That way, you can keep it outside, but the kids can have a reprieve from the heat. Also, if you have the party at 10:00 or so, you can beat the worst part of the heat as well. We did an outside party for my daughter's 7th birthday and it was great. My old neighbors had a hot dog cart and bouncer that we set up at the neighborhood park. It was easy for me and the kids had a great time. (we had about 25 kids)

Hi T.-

I have 2 kids 7 and 3 1/2- There is a gymnastic place on Gilbert Road in Chandler.. The parties can accomodate a lot of kids and isn't that pricey! There is also bounce u in Gilbert- If you just do cake, it isn't bad either-

My sons birthday is Aug 31st and we have also been in the same boat with not being able to have outdoor parties!

I also work from home selling fitness equipment!

I don't know how much you consider an arm and leg, but there is the Jumping Party at which both kids AND adults can jump. I don't know the cost but you can check ###-###-####.

Not sure if your daughter is into crafts or not, but for my daughter's recent birthday a friend hosted a mini-album scrap booking party at a local scrap book store. The owner let us use the site for free and I spent maybe 45 dollars on supplies for 15 kids. The had a blast and it kept them occupied for close to 2 hours. After cake and presents it was time to go home.

My son is turning 8 inSept too. I went on the web for ideas & found a web site www.birthdaypartyideas.com It has a ton of ideas and examples of how people put them together. My son decided on a Fear Factor party, Which will be so easy with Halloween around the corner. Party City has tons of icky things. (Gumball eyes, Gummie spiders, etc.) Just an idea of what I am doing. Good Luck, hope this helps.

I just had my sons 7th birthday in July and we went to the Tempe Kiwanis Park Wavepool. It was fantastic! Reasonably priced and very low maintenance on the parents end, they do everything for you. You bring your own cake and they can order pizza for you, however its kind of pricey, I would recommend eating before you go. The kids and parents all had a blast. I found it on the City of Tempe website and did all of my reservations on there, then they called me to confirm all reservations. I would recommend this party to anyone. You get to have fun in the water and avoid the sun, its all indoors!

Hi T.,

How about Skateland?? I did this with my daughters (all of them) at this age and it is a blast. Pizza, soda and cake is supplied and it is two hours of A LOT of fun!! If the adults stay and skate with them, it is great excercise. The best part is THEY clean up after the kids, you collect your presents and you are on your way.

I know they have been giving away discount certificates at the evening skates on Tuesday. But for the money, it's their electric, air conditioning, and their cleaning crew!

Their number is ###-###-####...you might want to take her to one of the Cheap Skates to see if she like to go, first!

Enjoy!

You know, if you have the party in the morning around 9am on a Saturday you could serve up a Pancake breakfast bar. Have the girls/boys create their own pancakes.
Inexpensive as far as the meal would go.
And then you could utilize the $$ saved and go for the water slide!
Have fun!
