Need Ideas for Movies/games for 9 Year Old Girl Slumber Party

The American Girl movies are great. The recent one with Kit Kitteridge is a favorite among my girls and they also loved Felicity. Other suggestions include Bedtime stories, City of Ember, Nim's Island, Hoot, Wild Hearts Can't be Broken, The Saddle Club movies.....

Matilda is cute...and my daughter and her friend love Fireproof - also Facing the Giants.
Games...not sure about games because usually girls can entertain themselves, but you can have a 'tea party' and do makeovers, etc...I fixed hair and did lipgloss, etc and also added pink and blue streaks to their hair (washes out of course) and they loved it. You can also do a theme - like fondue night - and all the girls can make their own fondue with different toppings like strawberries, etc...that would be a new, fun experience for some...my DSD loves helping out in the kitchen...and it's a good girly alternative to smores.

I actually only have boys at my house (almost 3 and 5 1/2)! But, there are a couple young girls that have spent the night over here (their younger brother is 5 and best friends w/my son, so we have traded nights off w/his family)! I would try to get a cheap craft kit or two, like making jewelry, or making their own lip gloss kits...or look for recipes for that stuff online. Make sure that it has enough for all the girls. Princess Diaries is good for movies, or Princess Bride (there is the word "breasts" in it, and also "son of a b****" one time, but that is all the language I can think of, maybe A**? I really don't remember that one though. Let them do each other's hair or make up, too, that is always fun. Do you have karaoke cds or games? Wii? Maybe some of them could do one thing while the others do their craft or whatever. man, I think I'm glad I have boys...except they would spend all night wrestling and someone would get hurt! haha! Snow Buddies and Space Buddies (about the golden retriever puppies) are really cute - I love to watch them with my 7 (soon to be 8) year old!

I had a slumber party for my eight year old last year and the best advice I can give is to get those glow bracelets they sell at fairs. I found mine at target, I think they also have them at the dollar store. I gave two to each of the girls so they didn't have to turn on the lights to go to the bathroom during the night. It was great and they kept them as party favors. We watched the movie 'Sleepover'. We played Twister and did our nails and a few bead projects. Good luck.

Also, they have probably never seen Anne of Green Gables. Though it was done some time ago, I bet they would love it.

Nim's Island is great, about a girl around their age and full of adventure. No bad language or nudity, just a really good story.

At this age, they still love animated movies.
Also, you may try The Princess Bride, Narnia, or Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Or Howl's Moving Castle.

Have you seen the Spiderwick Chronicles? I had some kids around that age come over and they loved it! (Although, you may want to preview it...there are a lot of goblin like things in it and it might scare some children.) Last weekend I watched Penelope (Christina Ricci & Reese Witherspoon) with my daughter--and we thought it was really cute. E.T. is a classic! The Waterhorse is also a good one! Good luck!

The Princess Diaries is a terrific movie. Enchanted or Ever After are both lovely movies.
