Need Ideas for Table Food for a 10 Month Old

I am trying to get my 10 month old completely off of baby food. He has not been as interested in it as he spits it out the majority of the time plus it is really expensive. The problem is I am really not an excellent cook, but also want to avoid feeding my baby a lot of prepackaged junk. I need easy quick meal ideas that him and I can enjoy together, or at least they he will enjoy.

I know you said you are trying to get the baby off jarred food, so you may not like this. Since part of your reason was that it was so expensive, I thought you could use this coupon. For the record, I'm certainly not opposed to making baby food! Just trying to pass along a good deal. :)

My friend and I just used these for a bunch of baby food at Target. It's for $1 off 2 Gerber foods, you can generate as many as you want, print them out, and go to town in the baby food aisle. As long as you have two jars of baby food for each coupon, then Target will let you use as many coupons as you want. It's a great time to stock up. When a lot of the Gerber jars are 52 cents a jar, and $1 off two, that's 2 cents/jar! :)

We tried to feed my daughter most of what we ate, but I also learned a really great trick for times when I wanted to supplement her meal or for times when we had something that was too spicy for her to eat.

Buy a few ice cube trays and freeze small portions of foods-- things you cook especially for your little one, or even portion out canned veggies, etc. Once the cubes are frozen, you can pop them out of the tray and put them into freezer bags (be sure to label the bags, so you'll remember what's in each one). I tried to take a little time each week to do this and it worked really well. You'll have individual-sized portions and can build up a variety of foods, so that he doesn't get bored. It was also a good opportunity to feed my daughter things that I won't eat, like sweet potatoes. :o) And the best thing is, you can just pop the cubes in the microwave and dinner's ready in seconds! Good luck!

We got some good ideas from the book Feed me, I'm yours by Vicky Lansky. I got it at the half price book store for $4.
I also decided I didn't care if he had traditional foods at dinner/breakfast. We did lots of dinners that were peas, eggs, avocado and toast or some other strange combo! But he ate well and it was healthy.
Here is what worked for us:
For meats, I would cook chicken or beef all day in the crock pot and shred it. Other ideas are scrambled egg yolks thinned with breast milk/formula, chunks of cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, cooked peas, canned fruit (I rinse off the syrup), beans (I do canned black or pinto beans and rinse them) pasta with sauce and cheese, cooked veggies (frozen veggies are really quick and easy if steamed), baked sweet or white potatoes, spaghetti squash was also a hit. Rice mixed with cheese and peas was a hit-use lots of cheese and it will clump the rice so he can pick it up. Toast pieces with butter or applesauce on top. Frozen blueberries are messy but they are good and I used them to cool down oatmeal-just throw them in straight from the freezer. I use frozen peas to cool down dishes also. Oh and hummus was a hit to.
Whatever we ate, I would also give my son some and now he is a great little eater!
Hope this helps!

My 10 1/2 month old daughter eats whatever we eat... slightly modified of course. She won't allow me to feed her so I cut everything into pieces she can manage. Among her favorites are cheese pizza, sweet potato oven fries, asparagus, goji berries and oat squares, spagetti, grilled cheese and tomato soup... just to name a few.
