So What Happened?

Thanks for everyone who responded and gave me such wonderful ideas!! I ended up purchasing party bags that looked like beach balls and included a mini beach ball inside, a wistle, sunglasses and some candy!! The party went well! Thanks again!

How about pails with beach toys or mesh or canvas bags for their towels or inexpensive flip flops or sunglasses as favors. Oriental Trading Company sells many of these items quite affordably

My daughter is only 2, so I'm not entirely sure what 7 year olds like, but here are some ideas:

Wal-mart has the following for $1 each:
- small plastic bins of sidewalk chalk
- kites
- tubes of bubbles (the wand is a long oval and makes softball size bubbles)
For $1.49, Iparty has rubber balls that flash for about 10 seconds when the hit the ground.

Hope that helps!

Family Dollar and other types of dollar stores often have a great variety of little items that are packaged in 6 that you could do. Bubbles are something that work great for either. Aside from that, I am coming up with thoughts of things that you would typically have to mark girls or boys. Though I see nothing wrong with a girl getting some cars, some mothers may balk at this. Also, I can't think of many 7 year old boys who would actually have a use for ponytail holders. Good luck!

All of my kiddos have summer birthdays, so we have had our share of pool parties!

*You could purchase some white t-shirts-like the packaged ones in the guys/boys section @ Walmart (or ask each child to bring one) and have the kids do Tie-Dying: craft and favor in one

*OrientalTrading.com sells some cute small pail/shovel/rake sets for about $1 a piece maybe add a small inflatable beach ball

*I usually do a pinata this way the candy/prizes doubles as part of the party favor.

*Cheap flip flops (think dollar store) that the girls can glue gems, sequins, etc on to

Hope this sparks some ideas for you! Best of Luck and have fun

We have given out "noodles"; swim googles; water squirt guns. One party we went to had bought everyone a towel from a discount store (building 19). Have fun

You can go to walmart and get inflatable balls and floaties. Get mini pails and fill with treats.

One of our neighbors had a pool party and she gave each child an inexpensive pool towel and foam noodle. We still have the pool towels and the party was several years ago! The children remember their friend and the party every time they use the towels.

I would get some sand buckets, bubble stuff, cheap pool toys if you can find them, squirt guns, any spring/summer stuff that would be used outdoors. Check the dollar store and Walmart. Have fun.

Hi L., A lot of people mentioned pails and shovels. Wayside Bazaar in Reading is going out of business. I checked it out this morning and they had a ton of pails and shovels in a few sizes and lots of colors. The ones that I looked at were less than 50 cents each. Have fun !

My other ideas were already mentioned, so how about dive sticks? Maybe fun goggles? Wal- Mart might have them already, or check online.
Have fun!

You might be able to find a beach pale and put little nic nacks in the pale. Also, the Movie "Finding Nemo" theme attracts both girls and boys. Good luck and have fun!
