I signed up to bring Halloween cookies for my daughter's preschool class tomorrow, but when I looked at the packages in the bakery of the grocery store, they all say "may contain nuts". I need to bring a peanut-free treat. Does anyone know where I might find cookies that would be ok, or suggest other treat to substitute?
We by-passed candy and treats all together, and brought little play-dohs for the kids. The teacher also gave halloween bubbles and pencils. The school encourages other items besides food & candy items, so this worked out best.
rice crispy treats are good. thats what we bring for my grandson who is allergic to nuts. also teddy grahams have no nuts so they are good as well. good luck
Home-made rice krispy treats are always welcome by kids and they're super easy to make! I add a flair by mixing in half normal & half cocoa or fruity. The kids go wild for them. The cocoa would look more Halloweenish, though you could do normal & add orange food coloring to the marshmallows. :)

Nilla wafers are peanut free as are a ton of other manufactured pre-packaged cookies and treats. Look at them carefully -- both for ingredients and any "trace" or "may contain" warnings. Also, just for the future, even if a bakery does not have a "main contain" warning on the package, almost every bakery will tell you that they cannot guarantee their treats are peanut free and make contain traces -- even when it is not printed on the ingredient label. My daughter has a peanut allergy and reacts to trace amounts. If you have any other questions or need more help, please feel free to private message me! Good luck!
