Still tossing names around for my new business. Will be selling natural mother, pregnancy, birth and baby supplies. My husband likes the Red Poppy name. It is also the town flower where we live and every year we have the Red Poppy Festival. My mom likes The Green Baby Company. The others are just a couple more that I came up with. Also, if we go with Red Poppy should it have "the" in front of it? Thanks for your help!

The Red Poppy Baby
Red Poppy Baby
Bella babies
Blue Bonnet Babies
The Green Baby Company

Okay...so my favorites are Red Poppy Baby, The Green Baby Company or Blue Bonnet Babies. Being that I am a web developer, I always look to see if a company name translates well into a web url address. I would stay away from Bella Babies/Baby because someone has already built this company.

The Green Baby Company (I would shorten it to: www.greenbabyco.com)
====================
I like this name because it embodies what you are selling. But, there is already a GreenBaby.com company which is selling products similar to the ones you are offering. Probably not a good idea to name yourself so closely to a competitor.

Blue Bonnet Babies (www.bluebonnetbabies.com)
====================
This is a great name since you are based out of TX and can get support for your business based on name alone. Unfortunately, someone has already snatched up www.bluebonnetbaby.com. They haven't developed their site but that doesn't mean they are not going to. As a consumer, I would type www.bluebonnetbaby.com before I would type the plural version. So, their site could steal traffic from your site since people would forget to make the baby plural.

Red Poppy Baby (www.redpoppybaby.com)
====================
Although it is cute and applicable to the Georgetown, TX area, it doesn't have as wide of an appeal in terms of name recognition. You will have to invest more in marketing. Advertise heavily at the Red Poppy Festival. The downside to this is that it will be harder to get people to know your name outside of Georgetown. I would leave the "the" out of your name but I would buy both the www.theredpoppybaby.com and www.redpoppybaby.com names to avoid someone buying either and taking traffic from you. Also, you might buy www.redpoppymommy.com/www.theredpoppymommy.com in the event you ever spin off a mom only site.

If you can think of some other names, then visit GoDaddy.com and enter them into the Domain Name search tool. It will let you know if they are taken or available for purchase.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I think just Red Poppy is cute.
No offense, I'm giving my honest opinion, a couple of the others remind me of Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers.
If your business expands, and I hope it will, you might decide to carry things that aren't necessarily baby, pregnancy, or birth items. You might have local artisans that want to sell jewelry or other miscellaneous things on consignment. Who knows?

I am not a fan of The Green Baby Company.
First of all, who wants to picture a green baby? :)
Second, the whole "green" thing can be done without throwing it out there. I get so tired of the phrase "going green".
Again, this is just my opinion. You asked.

Roll the names around in your own head. Consider your logo.
Consider patrons saying the name as they talk about your business.

"I found the perfect thing at _____________________".

My vote is for Red Poppy.
Red is my favorite color and my state flower is the Golden Poppy.
I'd go to your business just to see what you have.

I wish you the best and I hope you get lots of great suggestions!

Anything with "Baby" in the name limits you to birth to one year. Like Shane suggests, it may be better to drop that reference.
Bella Babies sounds like you are only catering to baby girls.
Blue Bonnet Babies - I picture babies trying to sell butter flavored spread.
The Green Baby Company - There is SO MUCH "Green" stuff today that it has lost its allure.
The Red Poppy is my favorite! I like it with the "the" in front. I would drop the "Baby" part though. Just "THE RED POPPY!"

Jen W. brings up a good point about securing a website url address. I would shop around for that too. GoDaddy.com is advertised a lot, and their rate for redpoppybaby.com is $11.99/yr. Domain.com has it for $10.47/yr. MadDogDomains.com has it for $8.49/yr. There are other places to buy them (domain names) also, but I won't list them all here. Just search "domain" or "domain name" and you can see more. You should compare the services as well as the rates. Good luck!

Blue Bonnet flows nicely. Red Poppy might work as a label for some of the supplies, but when I read it as Red Poppy Baby, the word Poppy changes to Poopy in my head, and that's probably not what you were looking for ;) LOL

I like Blue Bonnet Babies the best... It seems unique and imagine the cute logos you could do. :) Not to mention that (for the short time I lived in Tx, (actually, I had my DD in the Georgetown hospital. lol) the blue bonnets were one of my favorite things. They are sooo pretty.)

I like all the names. Have you done a name search/trademark search on these names? There is a www.bella.com that sells baby clothing, for example, and a Blue Bonnet baby photography company.

You would first want to just do a "google" search, but then I would pay for a full trademark search to be done. You wouldn't want to be successful under a name and then be sued for trademark infringement.

Bella Babies is too close to La Bella Belly. Nobody wants to imagine a green baby - reminds me of green baby poop or nausea. Blue Bonnet Babies - I just envision a bib and a onesie embroidered w/ blue bonnets on it. The other names don't give any inclination that you are a 'natural' supply company. Sorry, I just don't care for any of the names.

I just wanted to let you know to be careful with Bella Babies. There is a photography company with that name, and they can be found online! But, I do think that (The) Red Poppy Baby sounds very cute!! I especially like the little local things that go along with it!!

I think the word "green" is overused. Green Baby Company would not be distinctive.

What about using the word "Mommy" instead of "baby". That extends to more women than just those with infants.

Maybe something with both Poppy and Mommy in the name? Like "Red Poppy Mommy" or "Poppy Mommy"? You could have a play on words and be referring to the flower, and to dads eventually, as well.

Are you creating your own line of products? Good luck with your business!
