O.K. Moms I need help. I have a four year old who loves TV and Video Games. I am wanting to get the V.Smile TV Learning System for him this Christmas. I have checked the internet and found a few articles saying the moms were very disappointed in this toy. I would like to know if any of you have this toy? If so what age is your child? Have you had any difficulties with it turning on/off? Would you recommend this toy?

I really would hate to buy this and my son fall in love with a toy that didn't work.

Thanks,
S. T.

My girls are 5 and 7. We bought the hand held VSmiles last year for Christmas and they are still playing with them. They are great to take in the car, or to hook up on the tv at home. We haven't had any problems with them and the girls love them.

My daughter got it for her 4th birthday and really likes it. I do not feel like I have to help her out and it is different than the computer because she can take it with her and it has been dropped and there was no damage. The games are cute and the buttons are big enough for their little hands. I do believe that under 4 probably could not handle it well but 4 and up could.

My only problem with this item (which I returned) was that the picture quality to the tv was HORRIBLE. We didn't make it past that to see how it worked.

we've got one and my 3 1/2 year old is loving learning how to play on it... my 8 year old got it several years ago for Christmas... he actually will still play with it (because I tell him he can only play "educational" games instead of watching tv) so he does the spelling stuff... but otherwise, I think it's a neat product! :)

Hello. I have two boys 6 and 4. They received this system last year for x-mas and they love it. We haven't had any problems at all. They had been wanting a video game system, but we were hesitate. We didn't want them sitting around playing something that wasn't challenging them to think and this does. They have several fun, educational games. My 6 year old is over it now, but our 4 year still loves it! Hope this helps!

We got this for our son 3rd bday and it took him alittle bit but he turned 4 last month and he has almost wore out 2 games. It came with a game but he never liked it.

But he loved Nemo and Cars. There is many different things they can do. But on the Cars game his favorite is one with the toy truck Tatir and he moves different items into the right circle and now he tells us what each item is. Like a book, tire, etc. So he learning as he goes.

We decided just to get a few games at 1st so he could learn them. This Xmas we are getting Thomas the train so he can learn more. Our daughter who is almost 3 doesn't have much interest but I think bous are more into games.

Sometimes my husband has to show or teach our son how to do a new activity then he will do it. Its been great time for our son and his Dad to bond and help him learn too.

I wouldn't waste my money! We do however love the ClickStart! I think it is MUCH more user friendly and allows the child to play with less parental involvement...which is key for me to get dinner made!

My son received V. Smile when he was 3 1/2 for Christmas from my Father-in-law. We waited a year to set it up. He likes it, but he is just as happy playing the games on Nick Jr. on the computer.

I will say the games are educational, but it does take some parental involvement. I tend to dread it when he plays it, because I have to sit there and help him. I'd prefer to play a game or read to him. It may just be my lack of interest in video games. :)

I don't have experience w/ V-tech, but my 5 yr old daughter has a Leapster and she absolutely LOVES it!! She got it for Christmas last year and her enthusiasm for playing it has not changed at all in the past year. If anything, she likes it even more now. It's educational, plus it does not require my involvement so it's perfect for while I'm trying to get dinner made, fold laundry, etc.

I am not familiar with the v. tech but have you thought about the WII. I didn't want a gaming system at all that my daughter would end up a couch potato. But I have been very pleased with the WII in that she is up and active and can correlate what she does with the system to real life. Bowling, Tennis, flipping a pancake to dancing. She loves it and is never sitting constantly moving around.
