Hello, ladies. I am looking for private school recommendations for the OKC metro area, including Choctaw, Norman, Mustang, and Edmond. My daughter will be 4 in October, and I feel that she will be ready for kindergarten the following year. I'm trying to get as much info as possible this next year. I know a lot of schools have waiting lists. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Hi M.

I know of 5 great private schools, all of them differ in size, teaching style, what is taught, and tuition. I know children that are or have attented each of them and I'm always surprised at the things they have learned.

1-St. Charles on 42nd in Warr Acres
2-St. Johns in Yukon
3-Cherokee Hills Christian Church (School name is Kingdom Kids) Just past nw 63rd on mcarther. They are havig their Kindergarden Graduation tonight at 6:45. You should come so you can see the school and what the kids have learned, maybe even get a chance to talk to the teachers or director.

4-SNU school for children in Bethany right off of 39th and I think Muller.

5- Valeries Legacy of Learning in Bethany on 36th and Holloway.

All of these schools are really good, but differant. I would visit them all to see what works for you and your child. Some require uniforms some don't, some include lunch and even breakfast in their tuition some only provide lunch at an additional charge, some allow kids to bring breakfast or lunch and others don't, some have before care and after care and some are only 8-3, and some teach off of a state based curriculum (all Catholic schools follow the state curiculum), and some use other curriculums like Abeka. So I would see what they all have to offer to find out which school offers the best for you and your child.

Good luck

T.

If you need a South Oklahoma City option, my daughter attends Creative Kids Learning Center. It is a private school that goes through 6th grade currently. It is a great school and the kids are transferring into public school advanced. They have great christmas programs and graduation programs and the price is not too bad. Creative kids is located at South Western and 134th.

I would recommend Villa Theresa. It's near St. Anthony Hospital downtown. They have an excellent reputation and some classes are still taught by nuns. Every person that I have ever met that attended that school at a young age has done exceptionally well later in life. They excel in academics and are just overall great people. My son is on the waiting list for their preschool when he becomes of age.

My son goes to Westminster and we love it! It is located at NW 45th and Shartel. We toured a few schools before we decided on Westminster and it is the perfect choice for him.
Good Luck!

I attended Christian Heritage Academy in Del city. It's a wonderful school!! I would HIGHLY recommend it. I tried to send my son there this year, but they have a waiting list. So if you're interested, you need to look into it soon - spots fill up fast. Just a warning - they are one of the more expensive private schools, but they are the best. :)
I would also recommend Community Christian School in Norman. they are almost as good as CHA ;), but not as expensive.
