You could try Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy. They've produced athletes who have competed in the Olympics (Jaycie Phelps, Amanda Borden, Kim Zmeskal, and Dominique Moceanu have all trained there at some point in their careers). The downside is that they are located in Fairfield, which might be a hike from Mariemont.
Hi K.,
I don't know if it fits your definition of REAL gymnastics, but my daughter had a great experience at Hyde Park Gymnastics on Duck Creek, which has now changed its name to the Cincinnati Action Center. She took lessons there from age 2 to almost 4, and the activities were challenging and fun for her. And for older, gradeschool children, the gymnastics portion looks even more intense.
Have you checked out Kids First Sports Complex? They're on Kemper Rd. They are the home to "real" gymnastics team and have one of the best facilities in the country. Check out their website: www.kidsfirstsports.com
It's kind of pricey, but they try and give discounts for multiple registrations in one family, etc. So I think they understand.
Hope that helps, A.
Hyde Park gymnastics is pretty good and may be closest to you. I used to coach there. Cincinnati Gymnastics, in fairfield has an advanced program for talented preschoolers called Superoos. It's by invitation only after they observe your child. My daughter was in it for two years. She's now a level 4 gymnast, but we moved her over to the Countryside YMCA due to high cost of the team at CGA. I wouldn't recommend the YMCA for a preschool age kid. There's also Kids First in Mason.
hi K., this is slightly different but i enrolled my daughter in a tumbling class when she was 3 with a cheer company. now i know you didn't ask about cheer classes but let me tell you, these kids are true athletes! they are strong and the stunts they perform are awesome! plus they get to compete in front of large crowds and it is a thrill! we are now enrolled at 'Southern Ohio Rebels' on mosteller rd. right off I 275. at 3 years old they would join 'tiny cheer' and get 2-1 hour classes per week. very affordable too. just something to think about.... blessings to you and those you love, H.
