For me it was the Ergo. You just have to frog leg the baby in there. I don't think it gets any better than that and I've tried 6 different one's.
I already own an Ergo, a Baby Bjorn, a Kelty backpack, and a Moby, but I need something that I can take on and off easily that is safe and comfortable for a newborn. A sling? Which one? I was always nervous about slings because I heard they can cause positional asphyxiation, so I would love to hear opinions/ advice on that. I have a two week old and a two year old and life has been chaotic. I need to be able to walk around and tend to my toddler, read to him, feed him, etc., and still pop the baby in and out for feeding. The Moby is very comfortable but it takes too much time to get him in and out, other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Both my kids as babies, hated... any sort of baby carrier. And I tried lots.
But, once I had my 2nd child, my son, I used a "Moses Basket" for him. It worked real well. He loved it, slept great in it, I could carry it around from room to room even if he was still sleeping in it.
Then, I also explained to my eldest child (my daughter), what babies do. ie: they sleep, they nap, they wake and I need to nurse him etc. So then, it was not an impediment, to my daughter, when I had to do these things. She understood. Because each month, I would explain to her in simple terms, what her baby brother is needing and how he is changing. And she'd even help me at times, by gathering her things nearby me as I nursed, and played.
Then when out of the house, I used a baby stroller.
Anyway, I LOVED the Moses Basket. I got it from Amazon.
I agree with the insert for the ergo. I know my Beco (which is similar to the Ergo) had a newborn insert to cradle carry Kiddo until he was big enough to do without it.
Never could get the hang of the slings, and with my not-so-great back, it was a blessing.
Do you already have the Ergo's infant insert?
My Moby was (and is) great for this. It shouldn't take too long to get him in...maybe still on the learning curve for you? Once you get the hang of it, it literally takes 30 seconds to get it on, and another 30 secs to get baby in.
The best part for me is that its the only one I have found to be TRULY hands free for housework, etc.
Good luck!
I tried a sling around the house but I just never got the hang of it. It just never felt secure.
Honestly with a newborn I did the whole one-armed-mama thing a lot! I became pretty adept at making our lunches this way :-) My two year old was pretty good though, was happy to have me nearby but was able to play on his own. Sitting down to nurse meant reading and snuggle time for him so we didn't have too much jealousy, and if I absolutely NEEDED to do something I just put the baby down and did it. Even if she cried we all survived. Once she was three or four weeks old I started using a swing and that was VERY helpful.
Hang in there, it gets better I promise!!!
Wow, sounds like you own a lot of carriers... and nothing works? I personally just didn't carry my baby all of the time. What about a bouncy seat? A swing? When I did need to carry the baby around with me I always used the Bjorn... It supported the baby, was comfortable for me, and I never felt like I had to reposition the baby. I never owned a sling, and never needed one. I have 3 kids... all loved the swing, and bouncy seat because I used them from day one. Not to say I didn't hold, carry and snuggle my kids... but it seems that one of the items you already own should do the trick!
I used a comfy joey sling. Not sure if they make them anymore, but it was great. Go to www.thebabywearer.com and you can find all about slings - which ones are good, etc. and get questions answered.
Also, as far as slings go - you want the rail to be a straight line. IT's when it looks like a little pouch that you get that asphyxiation problem.
I had a baby K'Tan which is very similar to a Moby but has two large loops instead of one long piece. Was much easier to get on and off. I loved it during the newborn and early stages. http://www.babyktan.com/
I liked my Maya Wrap, for the younger infant stages. You can get a newborn insert for your Ergo, which would be a very easy way to carry. With all the bending and movement, I think the Ergo would also feel the safest and most secure!
I would chose a wrap or the Ergo or the Bjorn. I personally liked the Bjorn, but I know a lot of people don't. I never liked the Infantino sling someone gave me so I barely used it. DD's head was pushed down and it simply wasn't comfortable for either of us.
