I'm not sure if it's online, but I am going to provo college, and I love it here. They just started a medical billing degree here.

Hi moms! I was looking for some advice on this subject. I am currently a SAHM and I am seriously considering a new career move. I would love to go get certified in medical billing and coding. I am looking around but not sure if I should go back to a school like Northwestern business college or Everest which are both near my home. I know there are some online courses that you can work at your own pace. Can anyone recommend a school or training program that is actually legit? Thank you so much in advance.

Getting the training from an acceptable school isn't the big problem. Most companies that will pay you to work at home doing this will also give you a test before they hire you. The real problem is that the work isn't there the way they tell you it will be. The work done at home for big company is for pennies per page and or word or however they count it. I've done extensive research. Most people never get fast enough for it to even raise up to the level of minimum wage. If you are extremely fast and accurate, you still will have a hard time getting enough assignments or the ones you want.
I started checking locally with hospitals and most of them require you to be on staff and present there at the hospital and just about never let you work at home. Those positions are kept for so many years that the turnover is very low.
These schools pump up their programs and tell you it's a great deal. They don't tell you that much of this work will be sent overseas and done for even less than Americans would take for it and it's too low already. Anyway, after studying for a few months and looking at the employment options and talking with a great many people and watching websites where people talk about trying to find work, I demanded a refund from the school that I was going to owe 2700 dollars to. I didn't so much get a refund as they agreed to take no further payments from me. They never came after me or anything. The owner of the school knew what I had discovered was true.
My friend does this and when I asked her about it for another friend she told me to not get into it. There is not much work out there...very hard to get in with doctors and the work ends up barely paying minimum wage. Sorry, but I wouldn't waste your time or money on school for this.

My cousin in CA did this and basically wasted tons of money on the course and then couldn't find a job! There have been a lot of people persuing this and then finding the jobs just aren't there. I would check into job availability first before you do this. Good luck.
