Need Recommendation on a First Razor for My Daughter to Learn to Shave With.

The Schick Intuition. It has that slab of soap or whatever magic it is all around the blade. Its bigger and thicker than the Venus. I use the Intuition and so does my teen DD. I love not having to mess with creams or soaps (I nick easy and bleed like a stuck pig). I actually used to use the Venus...I think it might have been the earlier one on the market and they were great for travel...no cream needed, etc. But I got a sample deal for the Intuition and haven't looked back! We buy the big monster pack at Sam's Club and even with my 5 o'clock shadow legs (daily shaving), I use it several times before replacing. My teen can use it weeks before replacing as she shaves seldom.

How about the Schick Intuition? That's my favorite, and even though I'm a klutz, I don't seem to cut myself with that one.

I've used the Intuition for years and have NEVER cut myself shaving.

Get a razor for a mans face. There is a razor with 4-5 blades. Get that one. The multiblades reduce cutting, and the heads on the mens razors pivot!

Ohh!!! My daughter and I went throug hteh same thing. I got her the Gillette Sensor razor. It has replaceable blades and they have these little wires around them so you can't push too hard and cut yourself. She has used these since she was old enough to shave and they give a good, close shave without the nicks and cuts.

I am accident prone when it comes to sharp things, so I always use a wire-wrapped blade and haven't cut myself in about a year (now watch me slice a chunk off when I shower later!). I love the Schick Intuition razor. It's wire-wrapped, 4 blades and surrounded by lotion/soap/shave stuff.

i like venus razors best. if i can find them on sale. other wise i use womens bic. i have used my husbands razor before too! but venus is my favorite.

I also love Schick Intuition. I have tried getting away with cheaper razors, but they just end up being "scratchy" and lead to nicks.
Now, when she just starts out there are bound to be some nicks around the knees and Achilles - but at 16 I am sure she will be a quick learner.

i have used shick quatro for ever since i started shaving at 11 12 and have only cut my self a couple times mainly when i am in a rush, let her pick her own razors just make sure it was 3/4 blades and is replaces once a month or so and she uses shaving gel

I owuld suggest to spend some money and get a Venus or one with 4 or 5 blades and a moisturizing strip. Those work the best and tend not to nick, plus no razor burn (at least for me.)

Disposables are definitely not good for a starter! lol

Oh and to address the age comment, every girl is different. If I hadn't started to shave, I never would have had to. I have very fine, hardly noticeable blonde hairs. I really regret starting! So I don't think it's unusual that she is starting at 16. Same with boys, my hubby didn't have to shave until he was in his 20's.

She's 16? And just now getting to a razor?
Any razor that is not a disposable. More blades the better. Men's or women's -doesn't really matter. Add in good gel shave lotion.
Can't she just drive herself to the store and pick one out on her own?
Anyway, there's always that learning curve-no matter the age. A few nicks are inevitable.

I got my 10 year old daughter the throw-away Venus razors, not the ones that you replace the blades on. I think it's got a triple blade which is plenty for the soft hair at that age & she hasn't cut herself once (not that she shaves very often, but once a month or so!).
