My step-father is in Mansfield Nursing and Rehab on Broad street. It's very old and looks pretty awful, but it's clean and the care has been very good. My step-father has MS and is totally blind, as well, so he can't see how ugly it is. We are more concerned with the care he is receiving. They doing a good job caring for him, and he gets excellent physical therapy every day. It's currently getting a face-lift, so maybe it will be better to look at soon, too. He's been there for a year and a half. Oh, he also loves the food!
*I have power of attorney for him and am responsible for his medical care. When I started looking for a place for him last year I looked at a ton of places and read a bunch of reviews. They were all terrible. I had to just talk to people and visit places. This place has terrible reviews too. They've recently changed owners, and things have improved since we've been here, but I think change in ownership is very common at all of these places, too. Good luck. I know how overwhelming and exhausting all of this is.
ETA: If she ends up at Health South eventually, it's a great place! My step-father was there for quite awhile, too.
