Need Referral for Marriage Counselor on NW Side of Chicago

Hi! Lately, my husband and I have had serious communication issues which are only getting worse. Does anyone know of any reputable marriage counselors? We are not very religious, so we'd prefer something that is not too faith-based. Looking for someone on the NW side of Chicago or close-by suburbs. It has taken a long time to get my husband to agree to this, so I'm ecstatic that he's finally opened up to the idea. Thanks for you help!

So this isn't a therapist but a marriage conference schedule, my husband and I have attended and it was very helpful for us, you can use the code: GLOZIER and get an $80 discount if you decide one of these might be helpful...

Hey- I don't have a referral but I just wanted to mention that your insurance might pay for the therapy. I just found out my HMO pays for like 14 sessions a year (with $20 copays) as I am considering some counseling for me and my husband as well to hammer out communication issues. my HMO website has a search engine for therapists specializing in marriage/couples. Good luck!

Both my husband and I were very satisfied with Gale Dreas. She was able to help us negotiate several issues in our marriage.

Betty Orlandino. She was terrific for me and my husband. Men tend to think everything is o.k. and don't really respond to female help so your husband may need a seperate person for him than you need. She would reccomend that person. Tell her Jeanette Hornbaker says "hello".

I'm a therapist, but not a specialist in couples. Try calling the Family Institute in Evanston. It's part of Northwestern University, with lots of therapists to choose from. You can also go to the psychology today website and click on the "find a therapist" tab. You can search by zip code/speciality.

Hi, there is a great counselor in Palatine. His name is Mike Pollard. He does marital therapy and has great rates. He was very helpful to us. Plus, he was pretty flexible in our scheduling issues. His office is right across from the Palatine Public Library and it is pretty easy to get to. His phone number is: ###-###-####. He usually returned in our calls right away. We were with him for a little over a year and now just go every once in a while when we need a "tune up". Hope that helps.
