Hi, just wondering if anyone's had experience with in-home care agencies. If so, any suggestions of who to go with or who NOT to go with? We are interviewing agencies in the Lafayette/Orinda/Walnut Creek areas.

What can I do next?

Hi,
I'm just now responding because I was also requesting help for my mother. I had bad experiences with Affordable Healthcare. They came late, left early, some didn't know what to do and some left the same gloves on that they used to change dirty sheets to make my mother's breakfast. And $29 an hour is a lot of money.

Other agencies are even more expensive so I really need someone I can hire personally.

I'm hoping I will find the perfect person. Good luck with your search if you are still looking.

I serve as a parent team for a new online upcoming company, CareNovate.com that will offer not only child care services but pet, office, home, educational and more. I like it because they have a diverse parent team (includes social workers, direct care workers, retired nurses, etc) that will approve all applicants and most care givers will have background check services via the site. They are to be cost effective, in other words cheaper than the rest while maintaining quality

The site will be launching later this year and i think it will be awesome

Hi there!
We used Affordable Health Care, based in WC, and were very pleased. This was 3 years ago, though. Elder Care is good too, but expensive. I am also investigating in-home care for my 87 year old aunt and plan to look seriously at Affordable Health Care.

I was in thst field for several years. There are good agencies and of course not so good, it really depends on the training of the CNA/ Nurse. There are also retired nurses that do inhome care that may not be with an agency. It is always wise to interview each person before you and your family make a decision.

I worked for Companion Care for 6 years. I know you asked who not to go with but I have to say this is the BEST company in the area. They are ethical, caring, extremely professional. I have made friends w/ some of the folks I cared for (one in particular who I invited to my wedding and made sure she met my baby when she was born).

Talk w/ Sandra Lemmons and you will see how amazing they are.

Good Luck, A.
