I am in charge of snacks for my son's preschool class. Their letter of the week is H, so I am looking for some snack ideas to go with that letter. Thanks for your help!

i would say hummus
honeydew is clever, but good luck with finding it in Jan, but in tx you might have better luck
Haystack Cookies
Ham and Cheese Party Rolls
Hushpuppies
Or if most people go the quick and easy junk food route...
Honey Buns
Handi-Snacks
Hummus, ham, hot dog, honey, hashbrowns etc. good luck!
Honey Graham Crackers with cream cheese and fruit on them.
How about hummus with pita bread slices? I know that has the potential to be messy, but kids love to dip things. Put the hummus in very small dixie cups and give them pita triangles.
How about tiny Ham & cheese sandwiches - use cookie cutter to make them Heart shaped. Really you could also do mini peanut butter and jelly's and cut Hearts out too.
What about mini hamburgers or a small hamburger cut into pieces? Hot sauce, hash browns, hazelnut spread, hominy or hominy grits, ham and cheese hoagie, hearts of palm, hot wings, hot cocoa, havarti cheese, hollandaise sauce and my personal favorite - Hershey bars!
I'd get some of those miniature weiners (hot dogs) and put them in a crock pot with maybe a little bbq sauce, bring some plastic toothpicks for the kids to get their baby "hotdog" out with. Get some hummus (look for a flavor that would be kid friendly) and some crackers to go with. Maybe take in a bottle of locally grown Honey and some miniature bread to go with and make little honey bread snacks.
What a fun idea!
Hohos
Hydrox
Halibut
Hoagies
Haddock
Hamhock
Habichuelas (beans)
Hard cheese
Hard Salami
Hormel (spam....)
Hibiscus (tea, or juice)
(me and my guy have been thinking long and hard....too bad it's not next week, ICE CREAM!)
We thought of some VERY inappropriate ones as well, tehehe, hops to name one, hash brownies, and so on!)
Good Luck!
:)
um...
Well....
hericot verts
that's green beans. I know, I'm odd.
Hummus (the best is homemade - you just use a can of chick peas - easy)
Honey with apples and yogurt (best with Greek yogurt - yum)
Heart shaped anything (use cookie cutters - whole grain bread with any 'he'althy spread.
While hot dogs start with h I would consider them inappropriate for a preschool class as many parents (me included) do not feed them to our children - same for ham.
Halva is yummy but I have always considered it candy - wouldn't be permitted at our preschool.
Hardboiled eggs sound great - you could devil them to spice them up a bit
Can't see all the answers so this may be redundant, but kids love Haystack cookies and they're super easy to make!
Ho Ho's snack cakes or Hersheys if they are allowed to have candy bars. Honey treats Honey graham crackers, Honey teddy grahams...
Hermit cookies is what we made for my children for the letter h
Heart shaped cookies are just too cute and easy to find right now!
handpies? like this: http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2008/10/15/apple-hand-pies/
This isn't as easy as you would expect...
hot dogs
hot pretzels
ham and cheese (chunks held together with a toothpick)
hummous
angel "hair" pasta...(pasta?)
honey on bread with hazelnut spread
Date honey
halva (tehina based sweet pastry treat -- very healthy and full of calcium)
honey and yogurt
hard boiled egg
hot pretzel (cheating?)
Happy Face Cookies
"Hot" ......something
mini hot dogs or hamburgers
Honey....... dip sliced apples into the honey
HoneyMaid graham crackers
hummingbird cake/cupcakes
heart shaped cookies
hummus
honeydew melon
That is a tough one!!
Ham and crackers
Hershey's kisses
This one was fun to read but I had to laugh at the people that threw in suggestions of snacks starting with H because of the brand name or the name given to a recipe. Cute but not in the spirit of the education.
Stick with the suggestions where that food is named with an H. Hummus is so good for you, that I think it is a good way to introduce kids in this area to it. It's wildly popular elsewhere. A staple. Some stores have many tastes (garlic, roasted red pepper, etc etc). You use it as a spread on cracker or veggies (as if it were a thick ranch dip or celery filling, etc).
The only other thing I can think of is: hot dogs.
How about Hummus and crackers, honey comb cereal, hash browns, hotdogs, hastacks, hot wings, ham, honey dew, hard boiled eggs, hot pocket, hamburger, or happy meal?
