The technical terms for this are plagiocephaly - flat head, and torticollis - twisting of the neck. He needs to see the doctor ASAP. These are both correctable, but only with treatment.

Do you have a children's hospital anywhere near your city? I would take him there for an assessment. They have helmets that they put on childrens' heads to help them with this, depending on the cause for it. If he is tilting his head to the side, that could be neurological, and this really NEEDS to be assessed before it becomes worse and permanently pulls his neck muscle so that he can't straighten his head.
Go get some help for him, A..

A.,
Have you talked to the pediatrician about this?
It might be nothing.
There might be something they can do now to help it.
It might change and get better.
Talk to the doc.
It will ease your mind immensely either way--to know you are being pro-active about it.
Good luck!
My friend had this on her little boy years ago..... they had him wear a helmet for the head to form in its shape. In her case it was because as a little baby he slept specificly on one side and the head was still soft and forming ( I think they do for the first year ) and so it started to flatten on one side. They tried to get him to lay on the other side as much as they could but he kept turning over. But certainly have his evaluated.
You need to find a good doctor and probably get some good exercises to help with the neck so his head doesn't tilt. I can't remember what they call that but it has a name. Then when you lay him down you need to turn his head to the side that is not flat and not let him stay on that flat side. Put him on his tummy in the daytime and turn his head to the side that is not flat. Rotate sides when you lay him down for naps. You really need to see a doctor who understands babies to get on this before it's way worse. A pediatrician is probably where you should start. He may need some physical therapy that you can do at home hopefully. Get on it now or his head will not be normal.
I'm adding this link which may or may not help from Mayo Clinic....

What does your pediatrician say about this? maybe they need to refer you to a specialist. I am surprised they have not said anything to you before. sounds like when he was in your tummy, he favored one side, thus, the reason for the flat side on his head. I do believe they can fit him for a helmet, which will over time, reshape his head. I would call and make an appointment right now! (with the PED)
Good luck!
ps. nothing to be alarmed about, but def want to get him some possible therapy and a helmet, if that is what it is.
Yes take him to the doctor ASAP.
Please understand that NOW is the most critical time,
when the bones of the head are not fully hardened.
This is SO VERY important. So now they can be
shaped for normalcy.
Does not sound normal at all. Is he laying too much on one side? Try having him nap in a baby carrier instead of lying down. Also take him to the ped as others have said they have helmets for babies with this problem. I wouldn't want to see a lifetime of problems from something easily correctable.
You really need to consult a doctor. Sometimes babies favor one side which results in their head being flat on that side but this sounds like something more than that. Best of luck.
Talk to your ped.
My son had a flat side to his head. Was due to favoring & laying on one side each & every time.
They wanted me to put him in a helmet purely for esthetic reasons.
After researching it extensively, decided against. Thank goodness.
He is fine now. It took some time.
I would constantly move him while he napped as he favored one side.
I, also, would have him sleep in his car seat and/or stroller if he fell asleep in that. It was good since he would sleep sitting up.
