Need Speech Therapy Agency

I am looking for an agency to have my son evaluated. The facility that we went to for PT and the one the doctor refers us to has a 2-3 month wait to receive treatment. IF my son needs treatment then I would like it sooner than 3 months. Please let me know if you liked a particular group/therapist. I would prefer someone/group in Evanston, Skokie, Glenview, or northside of the city. My son just turned 2.

What can I do next?

Northwestern University's speech language clinic is amazing. and it is less costly than outside agencies because they have graduate and doctoral students providing the therapy while supervised by speechlanguage pathologists. My son has made great gains while in the program.

My kids are both in therapy (not speech, but PT and OT) at Pathways Center in Glenview (www.pathwayscenter.org). It's a great place, and I know they do free evaluations. Once my kids were evaulated and they recommended therapy, they worked with my doctor and insurance company to help get therapy covered.

Try this link to find the Early Intervention agency for your area. They will do an eval and if he needs therapy, provide it in your home until he turns 3.

Your pediatrician should be able to refer you as well. I would also check some universities like Northwestern. Colleges often have speech programs that are run by professionals that also have students interacting with kids to help with the speech program.

My son went to City Kids Inc. on the northwest side of chicago. I totally suggest you look into early intervention. They will cover the cost, or most of it, up to the age of 3. My son just aged out of EI this past week so we have him in pre-school now through CPS.
Good luck,
Barb
