Need to Buy Baby Gate Top & Bottom of Stairway

Do you have any recommendations for brands of baby gates that you have used and liked? I am thinking of purchasing a retractable mesh gate called Kiddy Guard thru First Step Ahead. The Kiddy Guard gate will be mounted by drilling it into the wall on one side and has an attachment for the other side securing it going around the stair banister (rather than needed to drill into the banister). I am needed 2 gates: bottom of stairway & top of stairway.

What can I do next?

I suggest a gate with swinging door. Check out what is available at onestepahead.com. I bought one of my gates there (it required being screwed to the wall), but the swinging gate function makes it so easy! They also make tension style with the swinging door, which is what we installed at the bottom of the stairs. But one word of caution -- put some padding between the wall and the tension mount. I've got some gouges in my wall because I didn't know any better!

I have the Evenflo Top of Stair Gate at the top and bottom of my stairs. It screws into the wall and swings open. I don't like the idea of a tension gate at the top for fear it would give way if you leaned on it enough.

Good luck!

Yes. I second Kidco gates. They have the most choices and have accessories so that you don't have to drill into the wooden post.
