While not containers, the Ziploc bags with the "Easy Zipper" are what I plan to use in my daughter's lunch box. They're easy for little fingers to grasp and slide.
My 5 year-old daughter will start kindergarten this coming August. I will be packing her lunch everyday. I've been using plastic containers that have dividers to pack different foods, however I'm not please that the tops are hard to open.
Are there any food containers especially made for kids? easy enough for my daughter to open and close but strong enough so they don't open while in the backpack and spill food.
Please if you use great containers that you love let me know where I can find them,
Thank you mommies,
Thank all for your help, I'm glad to know there are people in the lunch room helping the little ones, I'll check in our new school to see if they also have volunteers.
I have the walmart plates and I do like them a lot, we have them in two different colors, however they school list said they kids have to able to open/close them and my daughter has trouble with those.
I will def check the container store, I checked them online but didn't find anything; but I'll check the store they have at central expressway in Plano and will also check big lots, I've never been in that store before.
We are very excited to get her school supplies for her first school year, this is all new to me and I'm loving it so far!
Thank you mommies and God bless!

My daughter went through PISD k-5 and I am a regular substitute teacher. YIKES...she is going to 7th grade this year!
When she starts to school, teachers and PTA ask for volunteers for everything and lunchroom help is one of those "jobs". We have the lunch area staffed with teachers and parents (more volunteers for K-2) to help, open containers, get condiments, clean up tables for the next group coming in, etc.
A lot of moms volunteer one day a week or so. I loved this "job" because I got to see my daughter, visit with her friends, teachers and other parents.
Best wishes! Susan
Container store has a great container just for that. One side holds a sanwich, and the other side has 4 compartments. My 2 year old twins have no problem with them.
Avon has one. I am not sure how easy it is to open and close. I bought one for my son that will be starting kindergarten this year. Another mother suggested it. Her sons both use it. It is one piece so they will not have to open several different containers.
Hope that helps.
I LOVE the divided plates at Wal-Mart. They are in the baby section w/ the sippy cups and spoons. At my Wal-Mart they are on the bottom shelf. My kiddos used them all last year w/o a problem.
Also, at Big Lots they have the plastic zoo utensils- they are cute, kid friendly and only 80 cents for a set of 4! That I could send them when I sent fruit that needed a spoon or fork- if they came back great, if not, no big loss.
