Hey other Mom's in the Northwest! I am looking for a good family oriented fun park/place of meeting for a family reunion in August (the 23rd) to be exact. I was wondering if any of you mom's already have experience. I am in the North end/Everett area, and will be meeting cousins from Longview WA & Seattle & Portland. The kids are aged 1 year to 6 years, and adults as well.
I think we are heading to Point Defiance Zoo; park and that area. My extended family will come up from Longview WA, and it's kinda in the middle with lots of options. I'll let you know how it turns out after next month! Thanks for the ideas, I want to try them out on our own!
Point Defiance Park in Tacoma has a large park area with picnic tables etc. There is also a zoo there, Never Never Land park, go-cart racing, and the Japanese Gardens. It's a very beautiful, family-friendly place where you could have a potluck-style reunion if that's what you had in mind.
I think the pp may have been referring to St Edwards State Park - it immediately came to mind for me too - it is beautiful and has an AMAZING playground that is fun for a wide range of ages. Also lots of open grassy areas, trails, etc. It is on the north shore of Lake Washington, in the Juanita/Kenmore area.
Edmonds City Park is much smaller, but really nice for events like reunions, with big playgrounds, a baseball field, lots of grassy space and trees, and a wading pool. It is also close to several beach parks and the ferry terminal. We live very close to it, and see big family reunions there on a regular basis throughout the summer.
King Edwards Park .... Fantastic place for kids to run around. Only thing -- some shade not tons.
I agree that Six Flags would be a great place. For the older kids and adults there is the Wild Waves waterpark and for the smaller children and adults that dont want to get wet there is Enchanted Forest. There is a area at the waterpark for toddlers as well though. You can get discount group tickets as well as discount tickets at Safeway I think.
There is a new Grey Wolf Lodge. Check it our-has a water park in the hotel. It's down near Olympia I think.
Try Lincoln Park in West Seattle! There's a giant park, baseball diamonds, a wading pool, beach, trails, and many covered picnic areas. You can check for reservations online at seattle parks and recreation. Have fun!
