We take ours to the library and let them pick out some books and movies to check out. Some weeks, we used to go daily and other's we'd go once or twice. It's somewhere new for the kids to experience without sitting in the miserable sun.
Hi Moms,
I have two children, ages 1 and 5. Normally my son is in school and my mother only has my daughter. Well my son is out of school this week until he starts summer school next week. Well my kids get stir crazy just being at her house all day long while I am at work and in turn drives my mom crazy. My mom does not have a lot of money to spare to take them out and do stuff. I was wondering if there are anything that she can do with both of them that is free besides going to park and roasting in the summer sun?

I look on www.gocitykids.com they have many free activities for all age groups!
At SomeBurros restaurant, they have a pink booklet that has all kinds of free (or cheap) activities in it for kids of all ages. I think it is called "The Active Mom's Calendar". SomeBurros is located in Tempe at Mill and Baseline, or in Chandler by the Chandler Fashion Center, or in Gilbert at Baseline and Cooper/Stapely. Just pop in and pick up one of the calendars. They are broken down by day and activity, so it is easy to find something for your little ones to do.
she can take them to the mall and the kids can play in the indoor playland there, she can pack a lunch for them and have a picnic in a shady spot there, or grab them a .99 something at the food court.
It depends on where you live. There really isn't anything free anymore. If you run the family business, give your mom some money to help her take your kids out. Keep away from arcades tho. The only thing I can think of that's free is mall play areas, parks with spray pads, etc. Get them a wading pool with a slide or spray pad at Target and let them go have fun in the backyard.
Go to www.azactivekids.com for ideas.
