My 4 year old (will be 5 in August) is needing to get her eyes checked. The school district did some developemental testing on her and told me she needed to go to an optometrist. I live in Denton and work in Lewisville, so if anyone knows of a good pediatric optometrist in that area please let me know. She is also on CHIPS so if you know of one that accepts CHIPS even better! THANKS!

So What Happened?

Well I called Dr. George Beauchamp in Grapevine and unfortunately they do not accept CHIPS. Therefore, they said I would have to pay between $235-$345 for the visit. I certainly can't afford that so I will have to keep looking. I really would like to take her to a pediatric eye doctor rather than an adult eye care place. Brenda if you get the name of the eye doctor your friend takes her daughter to, please let me know. I would appreciate it! Thanks to all of you for your help :)

Hi T.,

I highly recommend Dr. George Beauchamp or his daughter at Pediatric Ophthalmology in Grapevine. The is located in an office building across the street from Baylor Hospical of Grapevine. They both are very personable and thorough. I don't know about the CHIPS thing. You can call and ask. The number is ###-###-####.

I have asked a friend for the name of her daughters eye doctor. I know he is in Lewisville if Grapevine is too far. I'll send it to you as soon as I get it.

Good luck,
B.

I highly recommend Dr. George Beauchamp in Grapevine. It's a short drive, but I really cannot say enough good things about him and his practice. Back when my son was younger, we lived closer to Wichita Falls, and Beauchamp's office was close to downtown Dallas. After subjecting my son to numerous highly regarded professionals in and around Fort Worth, Denton, etc., we finally began making the commute to Dallas. If only we had started seeing him sooner, we could have avoided a lot of heartache with missed diagnoses and inappropriate glasses prescriptions. Beauchamp has a very conservative approach to care, so won't suggest anything that he doesn't feel is absolutely necessary. Since children grow and change so quickly, he's often content to take a "wait and see" approach on certain issues. This saves money and lets you know that if he does recommend something, you can most likely trust the recommendation.

Flower Mound eye care is great. When my oldest was 5 we started noticing some eye issues. We went to Flower Mound eye care because thats where I go and they did a wonderful job with my daughter. They worked with her well and got her into some glasses that worked. She is now 14 and has been going to them ever since, they just put her in her first pair of contacts this last summer.
