Downtown Abbey
Psych
Revenge
Grey's Anatomy
I can tell you the two shows that I thought I never would go for, I absolutely love and that's True Blood/ Vampire Diaries.
Hi'ya Mamas,
Happy Thursday! It's my kiddo's birthday tomorrow! She's going to be FIVE years old! Exciting huh?
Anyway, today I had a wonderful day off. The kids are in bed, the laundries not finished, but oh well! My day off is going to continue! What to watch on Netflix?
Some of my favorite shows I've watched recently to give you a feel for what I'm looking for:
Tudors
Game of thrones
the first few seasons of Lost
Satisfaction
Secret Diary of a Callgirl
Hulu's the Misfits
TEDTalks (!!!)
Community
Modern Family
I have a pretty low tolerance for violence (somehow historical/fantasy violence doesn't register as much though), drug use, and poorly produced TV.
Thanks for your recommendations!

I think we have the same taste! Love Game of Thrones. I have to agree with the suggestions for Firefly. It is probably my favorite series ever. It is not available for instant streaming though. I just watched Stargate Atlantis which is super cheesy but fun (it felt like a poor man's Firefly, lol! Plus it has Jason Momoa, the dude who plays Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones) It is available for instant stream on Netflix. Ok, here are my suggestions:
Netflix Instant Stream:
Lie to Me
Battlestar Galactica
Stargate Atlantis
The Riches
Hulu or Netflix DVD:
Firefly
Rome
Castle
Firefly rocks! I'm glad others have mentioned it!
I've been knocking out quite a few classics...of the WWII genre. It surprises the men in the family to see me watching the old war movies, both drama & romantic.
Psych is a lot of fun. We also really like Burn Notice, Dresden Files, new Doctor Who. If you want sitcoms The IT Crowd, Better Off Ted, Fraiser and 30 Rock are all favorites of ours. All these shows are streaming on Netflix. Have fun!
True blood, so addicting.!
Have you watched the Legend of the Seeker or Firefly series yet? Violence is present, but it's of the historical/fantasy variety. We love them, just rewatched Firefly this week. The Gates is also pretty good!
Hi Ephie!
I do more TV on Netflix than movies - I think it is an attention span thing. LOL
I love all things Josh Whedon - Dollhouse and Firefly are simply amazing series.
I do a lot of BBC - just finished, over the course of several months, the MI5 series.
Numb3rs was a good series also.
Movie wise, we tend to watch all things Nicholas Cage - gads, don't ask why, me and the boy teen can't explain it either. Netflix also has some lovely indie and foreign films that are off the beaten path.
Have fun!
ETA: Oooo, Galway Girl is right - Lie to Me is good!
Well, not sure if this fits into the genres you might enjoy, because most of what you listed I have NO idea what it even is..... lol (I know Lost and Modern Family, and have heard of Tudors but don't know what it is...).
Anyway, we have watched "The Lives of Others" several times. It is very good. It is a foreign film, in subtitles (if I remember correctly---I forget. Once you get engrossed in it, you forget you are reading, at least if the movie is any good you do). Set in 1984, in East Berlin, it is the story of a couple and a secret police agent who is "listening" in on them. VERY well done.
Not funny. But a "deep" movie.
If you are more into action type movies, then I seem to recall "Hart's War" being pretty good. It's Bruce Willis, Colin Farrell and Terrance Howard.
Life on Mars with Jason O'Mara (He is so dreamy!)
I know this doesn't quite fit, but I love the Dick van Dyke show! I go back and forth between that and Law and Order.
Have fun and enjoy your day off!
I started watching Charmed since all 8 seasons are on there. I used to watch it when it was on. I love Psych, I think that's on there but I own all the seasons. Also love Being Human (UK version) on streaming too.
I recently watched a great movie on Netflix that someone had recommended to me called "Forks Over Knives". It really impacted me! Now I'm telling everyone about it and to watch it. Let me know what you think.
Life, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Castle
Mad Men?
I enjoyed Legend of the Seeker, but it is SciFi Fantasy
United Stated of Tara is good.
I like jersey shore. I find it quite funny.
vampire diaries
I LOVE Game of Thrones! SO ADDICTED! After I watched season 1 I bought the first 4 books, breezed through them, and then read the 5th as well (and I do NOT read fiction).
Last week we went to see "The Avengers" and I loved the character of Tony Stark so much that I found "Iron Man 2" on Netflix and watched it a few days ago.
