Ugg, sounds like my youngest, she's a 3 for cats and bermuda among others. Bermuda grass! How am I spose to protect her from that!? Her biggest help was me cutting out all processed foods from her diet - basically fast food, and boxed/bagged meals are cut to a minimum, and she gets lots of whole fruits and vegetables. She hasnt been on an allergy medication for years, and I only have to treat her occasionally for a flare-up (usually when she buries her face in her friend's cat). We're living without central AC (no filtration) in a very dusty home and even have 2 cats, (2 dogs, a rat, tons of fish, etc.) When she - and I - was at her worst, I put a Hunter hepa filter next to the bed to help while she was sleeping (vacuum weekly to extend the life of the filter - they're not cheap). They're available at most home improvement stores (Lowe's, etc.) Otherwise, you can vacuum often (but not too often, as the carpet padding is a monster of its own), shampoo if necessary occasionally, wipe the dust off the walls/ceiling regularly and change out your HVAC filters often. I dont blow money anymore on Febreeze and the like. It says on the bottle that to be effective, you have to use it everyday, and it can be very expensive. Hope this helps :}
