New Birthday Party Ideas

My son will be 11 next Tues. We just moved to Coral Springs from Ocala so he doesn't have many friends & my husband just started a new job so funds are limited. What do you suggest as fun birthday party ideas? I looked into Boomers & Wanna Do City but those cost too much. He is really down about the idea that he may not be doing anything & he can't think of a thing to do either. Thanks for any suggestions!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all of your suggestions. Due to my son still being sick as well as his 4 y/o brother & 15 month old sister, we are not hosting a party at this time but I will keep everyone's ideas in mind.

Good Day, welcome to our area! My son is an only child and when he was young, we always faced this problem too. I raised him for the first 14 years all by myself, so our finances were always strapped, to put it mildly! But to make his day special, we had dinner at his pick of place or home cooked meal; and then we did a movie night, or we'd go bowling or sometimes we'd go have fun at a park, like Quiet Waters Park. He'd fly a kite, play catch. walk through the woods, ect... I pray this will give you an ideal. The dinner deal has become a major family tradition. Luckily for us, my 2 nieces whom I and my husband are raising, always pick Mc.Donalds! :) God bless & guide you always!
Truly,
Kathy N.

Hi S.,

How about a bowling party? My son loves that. You can do it one of two ways, just invite some friends and get a lane or two, buy some lunch and bring a cake if they let you. They let us, that is what we did this year. My son just turned 11 also. They also have party packages including lunch. We did ours at Boca Bowl in Boca Raton but that may be too far for you. There is a lane in Margate, I think it is called Brunswick.

Hope this helps.

Hi S.! Welcome to Coral Springs!

Well I'll dive right in, do they like any sports? My boys have had sport parties and they are affordable and lots of fun.

example: if they like football you can have a game and invite enough kids for both teams..buy a few cones to get the lines and butgers and hot dogs or pizza.

my kids ae big baseball so we rented a baseball field (with the city) example turtle run and made 2 teams, gave the them shirts and hired an umpire (go to baseball city and you may find one there-ask for Munga) we bought a grill and made hotdogs and gatorade in a big cooler.

I was decent priced, fun and it keep them busy and focused!

Good luck!

Hi S.,
Sorry,I'm not responding about the party ideas, but I would like to hear about your Direct Sales business as I am looking for part-time work. If this is Melalluca, I'm not interested.

Thanks

I have three sons; 13, 11 and 8. We do an inexpensive party every year that gets great responses from the parents and that they kids all seem to love. I have their friends come over around 6 PM and start off with pizza and cake here. Then I take them all to the Swap Shop to a drive-in Movie. Go here <<< http://www.floridaswapshop.com/swap.html >>> to find out what is playing the week of the party and enjoy a really fun night. Bring candy and drinks and popcorn. It is an really fun thing to do, that not too many kids have done. Also, for goodie bags, instead of putting a bunch of stuff in a plastic bag, on the way to the swap shop, I hit the dollar store and let every kid pick out their own thing. Anyway... Welcome to the area and good luck and hope you have fun!

My boys are all young men now, but i gave great parties when they were little. Here are my best ideas:

1. Invite all siblings. I remember how left out the others would feel when one of them was invited to a party and they were not. This will expand your list.

2. There are many wonderful activities that you can plan that don't cost anything. My favorite was a BRING YOUR OWN WHEELS. The boys were invited to bring bicycles, skates, hockey sticks, etc., and we headed to the nearby playground for an afternoon of impromptu bicycle hockey. Make up the rules as you go! I gave wagon rides to the little ones, I mean train rides.

3. Party activities consisted of color by number crayon cards or marker posters (a Crayola or RoseArt kit can keep everyone happily occupied).

4. Another one: Cut out Sunday funnies and tape them on sheets of paper. Add word balloons and have the kids think of words.

5. Play the Continuing Story. You start the story and the next person in the circle tells what happens next untiol you ring the bell.

6. Pinatas are fun. You can also have early Easter Egg hunts or butterfly hunts (kids make and color butterflies out of construction paper and hide then for the little ones to find.) Another variation is a crepe paper ball with little prizes hidden. The ball is passed around and everyone gts a prize.

7. Another activity is have everyone decorate white ridged paper plates with crayons, make birthday cards, or color on a large white paper tablecloth.

8. Anything color changing is fun, such as mini cars that change color when you dip them in cold water. I also love paint with water books. Everyone gets a picture, a paintbrush, and a paper cup of water. Even the little ones can be artists.

8. Healthy refreshments can be plates of mini sandwiches with colored cream cheese, pigs in blankets (mini sausages in biscuit strips), turkey rollups, etc. and fruit kabobs or apple slices and yogurt dip.

I can't wait for my grand kids to come so I can do this again.
