St. Luke's Hospital does it. Contact them at ###-###-#### or go to the St. Luke's Hospital Website. They have locations all over town, including North of the River.
We were just given a new care seat to use for my 7mo old grandchild. We can install it but I understand we should take it somewhere to have it checked. Anybody know of somewhere around Kansas City, North of the River close to Liberty? Do we need an appt?
Wow! You all are terrific. Thanks so much for the advice, I hadn't really thought about fire or police dept. I also might call St Luke's Northland since they are pretty close too.
I wish you all a happy new year and I'll keep checking the site to see if I'm able to ever help any of you out too! Thank you!
P.S. I actually ended up going into Kearney at the firestation. They were great!

Liberty Fire does it by appointment. You can drive into Kearney Fire and they will do it there also. I am a Car Seat Instructor for Kearney and you can call them, ###-###-#### or drive in. Thanks!
Many fire and police stations will install them for you. Just call the ones in your area and I'm sure one of them will do it.
Liberty Hospital has periodic car seat installation checks and also can provide you with a list of locations that will help you if they are not having theirs at a time convenient for you. If you look up their website there should be a number you can call for their childbirth and child safety classes and she is who can help you.

Any local fire station will be able to help you. Just call before you go to make sure that they are there and not out on a call! (The first time I took mine in I had to go back - they had to leave for a medical emergency!) :)
I would call your local police department, they should be able to help you out.
Any local fire station can check it for you. Some police departments do too, but not all of them do.
Hi L.!
Call your local police, sheriff or highway patrol. They should be able to help you find someone who installs car seats. They can come to your house or you can go there office (when you don't have the baby). It is an awesome free service!
We just moved from Garden City, KS & there was a police officer & a highway patrol officer who installed car seats.
God Bless!
Fire departments will check it for you for free. I would give a call first, just to check that someone is available to check it or when would be best for them, but it should be pretty straightforward.

Try and contact your local MO highway patrol. That is who I contacted when I brought my newborn twin boys home. They sent out an officer to our home. Their is not cost to you and it is very informative. You may also want to try your local police station or fire department.
Any firestation should be able to help and make sure that the car seat is installed correctly.
I don't know about your area but I live in northeast Kansas and any local police or fire station will check that for you. You can check online also for places.
I thought fire departments would also check.
you can take it to a police station or fire station to have it checked but basically if it doesn't move back and forth or side to side it is in tight enough. I would put my knee in the car seat to put weight on it and set the clip on the seatbelt to where the seat would be really tight with my weight in the car seat. In fact it was so tight that it was hard to buckle but once buckled in it was very tight when I took my knee out of it. That car seat wasn't moving anywhere and also made it a little harder for it to get unbuckled by other kids in the car which happened occasionally but it won't unbuckle on it's own and the seat won't move at all. So to check it you try to pull it forward and side to side and if it doesn't move then you have it in tight enough.
Take it to fire house in your area. They are the best ones for that they will install it correctly also for you.
If you don't get a phone number from anyone, just call your local Fire Station. If they don't do it, they will know the next closest station that does. Good luck!
We use our local firefighters station. Many of them have to go through training in safety for car seat installation and extractions. Check them out. They will be able to give you the best advice. k
I live far, far away from Kansas, but our Police Dept does it. I just called them and asked if someone could look at it. They said sure, bring it by. I figured these guys and gals inforce car seat laws, they should be able to help me. (They also periodically do car seat safety screenings.) I went to the police station, told them I'd talked to someone on the phone and they sent a guy right out to my car. He was VERY helpful and told me a lot of things. My seat was correctly installed, just maybe not tight enough. The guy actually sat on top of it and tightened the belt that way!! I had told several friends (in our town) and they have had the same positive, helpful experience I did. One friend even asked an officer she saw sitting in a parking lot doing paperwork.
*A lot of people will tell you to read the book and it will tell you. I read the book and I thought I did it 100% correct. I would have continued to think that if I did not have it checked out.
Call your local police dept. If they aren't the ones who do it in your area, I am sure they can direct you to the right people. Know for sure that your granddaughter is as safe as possible.
Good Morning L.. Congrats Gr. Mama! I think if you took the car to any police substation in your area they would be happy to check it for you. That is what we did.
Happy Life and Happy Home Gr. Mama!!!
Being a Gr parent is the blessing we get for surviving Parenting :))
So much more FUN!!
God Bless

I believe you can go to 435 & Eastwood Tfwy to MAST Ambulance headquarters too????
go to st lukes northland on barry rd to the maternity unit. Ask for a list of carseat check places. We give a list to all our new moms. thanks G.
Any fire station is good to take the seat to to have it checked.
I would call your local police department. Both times I got mine checked the police were actively involved. I would think someone there could check it for you. And if they can't help you, they can certainly guide you to the people who can.
