I have been attending the same church since I was 2. My husband and I finally feel accepted there after we no longer part of certain groups in our church. Well, we recently had a baby and have come to realize that where we currently go to church will no longer work for us when our daughter gets to be about 18-24 months old. Are there any churches in the Edmonds/Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace area that have lots of young families? I'm open to suggestions.

What can I do next?

Check out the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Look it up on LDS.org. You'll be glad you did, even when your daughter gets to be a teen - I know you can't imagine it now, but life today for kids/teens is really tough with all the worldly things that will distract her.
Best child/youth program there is - check it out. I checked it out 37 years ago and it was the BEST place to bring our children and us! Best decision we ever made!
Hope that helps.

Hi,

My parents attend Crosspoint, which meets I think at the Edmonds Community college. It is a branch off of Green Lake Presbyterian Church.

CROSSPOINT LYNNWOOD

Worship Service: 9:30am
Sunday School: 11:15am

Meets at:
Edmonds Community College
Triton Union Building*
20000 68th Avenue West
Lynnwood, WA 98036
Get Directions

*The Triton building is located in the southwest corner of the college campus and is most easily accessed by turning West off of 68th onto 204th Street.

My mom mentions that there are a lot of young families who attend. (We would attend, but we live in Hungary currently involved in missions work, but are planning a 6 month visit from end of April-October). They have wonderful teaching, and are very biblical, family based! Here is their web page!

Hope this helps!

God Bless

We attend The creekside Church which is currently located in the Northgate area. We are in the works of moving to our new campus (currently we are meeting in the gym at our old campus building). We should (if God's will) should be moved to new campus in Mountlake Terrace in summer/Fall. We have lots of young families. Our pastor is awesome. Since we are in transition, we don't have a lot going on at the church but we do have community groups and some activities you could get plugged into. My husband and I are about to start a community group March 4 which will be kid-friendly. We live in Kenmore. If you are interested, let me know and i can give you more information. Wherever you end up, hopefully you can get plugged in and feel comfortable. Blessings to you.

Hello H.. My church, North Sound Vineyard, is located in Lynnwood on 164th Street, just next to the Gais bakery outlet. We are a small congregation, with LOTS of children. Within this past year we've had approximately 5 newborns, in addition to toddlers, grade school age, middle, and high school ages. Our family has been attending for a little over two years, and we feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful, supportive group. If you're interested in checking us out, respond to me and I'd love to meet you there. Here's our website: www.nsvineyard.org

I also have to give a big thumbs up to Eastlake Community Church. Everyone is so welcoming and the kids program is fantastic! I like to keep things close to home, but for the past year I have been driving down to Kirkland and it has been so worth it.

Hi H.,

Have you found a church home yet? From experience, I know that is so hard!! We stopped going to church for several years because we just couldn't seem to find a place where God wanted us or where we felt at home. My oldest son started going to the youth group at Alderwood Community Church so we decided to try a Sunday morning and were so impressed! We felt like we had been "at home" the first visit! I attend the Wed night bible study now and love it! We just started a new Beth Moore Bible study, it's great!

Blessings,

T.

I have friends who attend Alderwood Community Church, and there seem to be lots of young families there. I attended MOPS there (once) I'm not an early morning girl, and MOPS is every other Tuesday 9am to 11am. I think it is important to consider location first, when deciding to move churches. The closer to home, the less likely you will be to give up...changing churches is hard to do.
Of course you may decide that you love where you're going now, or that you need to drive a little further, but that's my 2 cents. Start close to home, and gradually "sample" churches a little further away. And try to visit 2x...sometimes you have a completely different experience at the same place.
Good luck, and God bless
A.

I am sure you will get tons of responses from everyone raving about their church but I have to add to them. We go to Eastlake Community Church in Kirkland, we are moving the church to Bothell in a few months as we are growing to big for our location now. They have the most wonderful set up for kids. The website is Eastlakecc.com, check it out if you have any more questions feel free to email me. T.

Hi H.,
I would like to invite you to our church: http://www.citycalvarychapel.org/. We are located in Shoreline. We have a large number of families with young children. We even have a New Mom's support group. I've been a part of this church for several years now & can't imagine going anywhere else.

It really depends on what type of church you are loking for. Howevever, both the United Methodist Church of Edmonds (on Caspers and 9th in downtown Edmonds) and Trinity Lutheran on 196th have lots of families and many children's programs including youth choirs, youth groups, and preschools) I have also heard that the church in downtown Edmonds (I think it;'s on Bell Street, the white one with the bell tower, I think it;s called Sound something Christian Church) has lots of families, but I don't actually know anyone who attends personally, Also, Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Edmonds has many families if you are Catholic. I also know soemone you goes to Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood and know that it has many young families. Hope that helps!

We have been at Alderwood Community Church for six years and LOVE it! There are tons of things for kids and we have a wonderful MOPS group of about 80 women and their babies/kids. There's also an evening Moms group on Wednesday night for Moms of Babies through elementary age. The pastors are all on the young side and give very relevant messages. Lots of friendly people--many young families. Wonderful music and drama department too. Check out our website for more info: www.alderwoodchurchfamily.org. Hope you'll visit sometime soon!

We attend Mars Hill Church and our northend campus meets in Shoreline at Crista/Kings School in the auditorium. There are tons of young families and it is easy to meet and get to know other parents of babies the same age. Come check it out, services are at 9 and 11 am and 5 pm on Sundays. www.marshillchurch.org

It depends on what religion you are. My kids went to St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline and then the school. It was a wonderful experience. A parish with a school has many children of all ages.
