Hi Ladies, my husband and I are planning a date for saturday night for my birthday. I asked him what he was thinking and he said dinner and a movie which is fine but thats what we always do. If we dont see a movie we go bowling so I was wondering what you do for date nights with your husband. My sister is taking the kids overnight. We also live in wisconsin so it is very cold here right now. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the Great Ideas ladies. We went out to dinner then went and picked up a new board game and came home and played it, well having a few drinks. it was one of the best dates we have had in our 13 years of marraige.

Our date night typically consists of a UFC event at our friends house, if he is ordering Pizza (lucky to live in Chicago Pizza mmm) then we bring over drinks and if not, we go out to eat before and sometimes hit up SuperDog on the way home! If it's not a UFC night and it's date night we some times order in stay home and drink a few (a lot) and play Modern Warfare 3 or Black Ops then remember what other function our bed serves. We have gone on group date nights with his childhood friends and their wives, always interesting - dancing at a country club (all the guys listen to and have been in or are in a ROCK band), or a bbq/party at one of our houses. I like the idea of doing something different but I honestly enjoy just being with him so what we do does not typically matter - plus this year has been full of weddings they have taken up a lot of our social time (he is ALWAYS IN the party) between the bachelor parties, rehersal dinners and the actual events it was a busy year last year.

we like live music and interesting food. we might go to the jamaican restaraunt to eat jerk chicken and listen to a reggae band. or to the cajun place for ettouffe and zydeco.

sometimes drive-in movies and bring our own food and drinks

sometimes we go downtown, park and walk. it's fun to people watch, duck into a pub for a drink, sit under the stars in a park bench.

one of my favorites is to sit on the patio at a mexiacan restaraunt eating chips and salsa and drinking top shelf margaritas.

one of the most romantic dates ever is camping, folding chairs and campfire.

ahhhhh i wanna go on a date now!

I have game night, sometimes we go to a place where others gather for things like chess or checkers. Yeah those yucky strategy games bleck. I do it cause he likes it. Other times we go to plays, or theme nights. I like doing things like Art Centers, or going to book readings. I dont know if you like that sort of stuff. If your more physical look for a place that has like indoor open volleyball or something interactive. One time we took our date to a flight simulator place.. where I kicked my husbands tush in landing that big 747... I should apply to flight school

Shoot, if your sister has them overnight, the possibilities are endless! ;-)

Here are some things that we have done for our anniversary and birthdays: 1) tour a brewery (you are close to Chippewa Falls - Leinenkugels is one of my favorites! Yes, we've been on a lot of those-there are TONS of them in WI-ha!), have a nice dinner and stay at a hotel, or even a B&B; 2) tickets to a play, musical, even Stars on Ice one time, although with this short notice, not sure what kind of tickets would be available for that type of thing.

If you are up for a little travel, Fort Atkinson has a wonderful dinner theatre, www.firesidetheatre.com. It is located approximately 30 miles SW of Madison and you will drive through my hometown of Cambridge, which has a very nice B&B, www.cambridgehouse.us. It may be a little late notice for this year, but Jeff & Linda at the B&B are soooo nice and I LOVE The Fireside. They have amazing meals and the acting is incredible! It could be something you could plan for another time, or a special anniversary.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

My hubby and I love to get discounted hotels in our area (look on groupon, livingsocial, hotels.com). Find a local restaurant / bar around there and then take him back to the hotel (use restaurant.com and the sites mentioned above). It is always fun to get away for the evening and it seems to add more fun. It's like being on vacation but not -- and you receive quality time together. A full night and go to breakfast in the morning. :)
