NEW FRIDGE - Would like to Hear Your Suggestions.

I don't think that the power co will take any responsibility (been there, tried that). However, they may offer an incentive to replace your fridge with a newer, more energy efficient one - I would call and check it out.

We have an LG french door with the bottom freezer. I have had it for almost 2 years with no problems (knock on wood!). I don't have the door ice/water, but they had that model as well. I found the price point to be really good, too. The two things I really like are 1. the door alarm that goes off if it isn't shut and 2. the full fridge width and depth drawer at the bottom of the fridge - works perfect for cakes, pies and other unusual sized flatter items.

You may want to look into buying a surge protector to avoid damage to your refrigerator due to voltage spikes. I do not know much about them but you can google it or ask the people where you purchase the new fridge.

We have a Kitchen Aid and I LOVE IT. I've had it about 2 years now. We got it at Best Buy, they came out, set it up and took the MAYTAG away.

I had a top of the line Maytag ($2200 at the time) and it died within 5 yrs. Within the first year, almost everythig but the shell had to be replaced due to defects.

The Kitchen Aid (around $2000) has been perfect and no issues whatsoever. We have the water filter and ice storage in teh door so it is roomier in the freezer section.

You can get a good deal at Best Buy. We have one of their point cards that has reward coupons and we had enough coupons that covered the delivery charge. I love Best Buy.

Just an FYI...If you go with Sears, they will take your old fridge with them. Just one less thing to hassle with :)

We have a GE Profile French Door (freezer on the bottom, side by side on the top) refrigerator. It has external filtered water and ice and is also Energy Star Qualified. It also has TurboCool and TurboFreeze settings - no matter how often you open the doors foods remain at their correct temperatures. This is a recent purchase so I can't tell if this is going to be a good investment long term, but we sure are enjoying it now! I believe Sears and Home Depot both had this model for around $2,100. We recently remodeled our kitchen and I can't remember exactly what appliance came from what store.
